Al'Drona

The city of Al’drona is nestled against the Ice Mountain, the most prominent of the Frozen Peaks. It is the culmination of Dwarven craftsmanship and Elven arcane warding. The location where an army of Elves and Dwarves stood their ground against the ancestors of the Heagen Empire to the South. Only two battalions and their captains remained once the battle was over.   On that ground, they set to creating a vast city. The shields of the fallen Dwarves were used to create the core of the wall surrounded that their might would hold the line through eternity. The bows of the fallen Elves set into the central tower of the castle so that their watchful gaze will continue to protect those of the city. It has also been a law that the city will have two rulers, one Elf and one Dwarf, and they both must have spent time as soldiers of Al’drona.   At the city’s completion, the Red Dragons within the Frozen Peaks sought to destroy the city led by Bruvug, their king. The dragon’s fire nearly burned the city to ashes, if not for the aid of the Elven Wizard, Arel Bifir. He claimed that he could place a warding on the city that would keep the dragon’s at bay and got to work.   Arel carved the arcane script into the walls of the city. It took him a full century to complete, while the dragons that live within the Frozen Peaks continued to attack. The runes he carved unlike any had ever seen and none have been able to translate it.   It has been 500 years since there have been signs that the warding was beginning to fail. It is now to a point that the dragons are beginning to make headway in attacking the city. It is this concern that has the Lords of Al’drona calling for aid in replenishing the guard until they can find a solution.   The city is divided into several different districts. Each district is overseen by a District Lord.   Districts Noble’s Ward - The North East district of the city. Known as the upper class area, many of the buildings are finely crafted stone and wood. The shops here are more cost for higher quality.   Kalebyr’s Memorial - A tall obelisk of dark stone, placed to mark the birth place of Kalebyr, a famous Cleric of Eldath. A Dwarf woman who sacrificed herself to stop a civil war in the streets. * The true story of Kalebyr is known by Mal. A Dwarf fell in love with an Elf baker. One night she was attacked by an Elf noble and nearly ravaged before her Dwarf lover killed him to protect her. The Elves demanded that the killer be turned over to them as a witness was able to say that it was a Dwarf. To protect the Dwarf and Elf from repercussions, Kalebyr offered herself as a substitute and died. The daughter of the couple currently runs the bakery her mother owned.   Gedu’s Masonry - The workshop of a female Dwarf stonemason named Gedu. She seems to know every dungeon within twenty leagues of Al’Drona.   The Broken Spear - A modest adventurer’s inn, entirely filled with cats as servers and the husband and wife who own it. Currently closed and overrun with mercenaries.   Feyfair - Mainly temples and arcane study halls.   Places of Interest Emery’s Tower - The city’s arcane scholar.   The Guild Hall - An ornate half-timbered building, decorated with finely carved friezes. It contains a large meeting hall and several smaller rooms. Currently has one corner crushed in and is abandoned.   Brandi’s Arcanium - A modest arcane workshop. Said to be guarded by living gargoyles.   Bell Ward - The merchant quarter where the majority of the merchants and shops resides.   Places of Interest The Chalice and Ghost - A shabby adventurer’s inn, built within what was once an aristocrat’s manor. Anyone who enters the inn becomes attended by a personal ghostly companion, who serves and entertains them while they remain.   Wood Borough - Mostly a large collection of broken buildings. This has all the signs of the arcane protection failing   Places of Interest The Stoned Dragon - A Tavern that is well known as a meeting place for good food and drink. The owner is a Dragonborn with a large pipe that he is always seen smoking.
