Yer'urn Everwood
Yer’urn Everwood was a high elf blade singer wizard who was raised on a mountain by a dragonborn, whose name I don’t know. Said dragonborn was basically his father figure and master, he taught Yer to be a blade singer. His master got killed by a group of men wearing bear pelts, and the leader of the group was a man named Reuben. Yer left to seek out revenge against him for his master so that he could do that and finish his training as a blade singer. He became a mercenary, essentially

Glory secretly ‘hired’ him (she never intended to actually pay him) to join the caravan as Midnight’s personal guard, but she didn’t know that until later. He spent about three months with them, he would keep an eye on her while she slept because of her night terrors and often put his cloak over her. He was protective of her and flirted with her in passing, and she thought he cared about her. She had gotten hurt pretty badly in the Citadel along with some others and Liana was out of spells, so they went to the mansion to recover, and he carried her upstairs to her room and she confronted him about Glory hiring him to protect her

He sighed and essentially said something about it becoming more than just a job at some point, then gruffly told her he needed to take care of the gash in her side before she bled out on the floor and had her take her armor and most of her shirt off, cleaned the wound and bandaged it. She had been backed up against the door and he leaned down like he was going to kiss her, but instead opened the door behind her and left. When we went back to the citadel and finished it, Midnight had a bit of a mental breakdown and explained some of her trauma to him and asked if he would help her with her own revenge, and he promised he would and held her, said not to worry, that he wasn’t going anywhere.
Then he left. That had to do with player burnout, but there was no communication at all to anyone, not even the DM. No wrap up, no nothing
[10:47 PM]
So we had to fill in the blanks, that he left because he found clues to whereabouts of the group of men. We had encountered them in the citadel and killed one of the lesser members, and that’s how Midnight had gotten so injured.
[10:50 PM]
When he came back recently, it was explicitly explained that he joined the cult so that they could give him more power to take down the man who killed his master, and he had apparently been writing to Midnight, sent her 9 months worth of letters that she never received. The first thing he said to her was “Midnight, have you been eating?” because one of her trauma responses is not to eat, but Ash has been making her meals and helping her through her trauma, and she has actually gained some weight back and looks healthy.

Interesting

He was ordered to kill Ash and Carrie when we met back up, but he said he refused to hurt his friends, aka the original party members that stayed so Midnight, Ophi, and Liana. He attacked other party members, but when Midnight attacked one of the leaders, he counterspelled the returning attack so that Midnight didn’t get hurt, and that confused the shit out of her
[10:55 PM]
But he tried to hurt Carrie, and he was going to try to hurt Ash. So Midnight shot him and crit on it. She said she didn’t want to hurt him but if he tried to take the twins she would shoot. He attempted to cast Hold Person on Carrie, so she shot him. And then he almost killed her.
[10:55 PM]
And laughed the entire time

hmm...seems a little out of character.
[10:56 PM]
But with a cult I imagine there are a few things that can be excused.

He was being brainwashed and magically manipulated

Got it

I think her shooting him with such a fierce look on her face made something snap in his head
[10:59 PM]
Yer is just a shittier knockoff version of Sparrow, that’s why Midnight was interested in him in the first place
[10:59 PM]
But Sparrow wouldn’t ever try to kill Midnight even if she shot him
[11:01 PM]
Yer seemed to still have feelings for Midnight, but I think with the cult and then Midnight obviously being with someone else and then shooting him, it made something snap in his head (edited)

Enough head games and anything is likely to happen
Bettertoburnout — Today at 11:01 PM
Exactly
[11:01 PM]
She honestly thought he was dead, she didn’t know what had happened to him
[11:02 PM]
She didn’t know about the letters until he was like “you didn’t get my letters???”
[11:06 PM]
But Midnight did 10d6 worth of damage to him and he was barely standing when he attacked her
[11:06 PM]
She spit blood in his face and he apparently loved it
