Abandoned Food Warehouse

One might not think any abandoned building especially one that was a food warehouse could be a place of comfort and sanctuary. Yet, for those who are downtrodden, the ones that have been beaten by the system and those trying to escape the powers that be an abandoned food warehouse is a gem.   Firstly it is dry for the most part. Any leaks in the roof can be patched with scrap. One might even be able to high jack electricity and water from the grid. You also have security in numbers with others who make the place into a home.    The former freezers and refrigerators if not in use can make for safe rooms due to their reinforced construction and insulated materials. One can be rather toasty during winter if the cooling is off or out of order.    But the best part of all is the food that has been left behind. Either a discontintued item, stocks that were never sold or some niche item that was forgotten about. Depending upon the amount and type of food one does not necessarily need to worry about going hungry. It won't be fresh food, it will be either dry or in a tin, yet you can heat it up and fill your gut with it.   What might you find one wonders? Let us look at a recent stash of food some squatters found in Croyden.   Government survival biscuits. Crisp and crunchy same as packaging day. They were irradiated. Canned possum in milk gravy. Delightfully delicious. Pork brains in a curry sauce. Canned snake meat, non-venomous. Canned crocodile, or somekind of large reptile. Other canned meats if stored properly. Pitted and candied prunes, just like grandma would eat to stay regular.  Pickled fish of any variety. Bones removed of course. Salt, sugar and honey, these things last forever and prevent bacteria. Dry beans and rice will last longer than you if properly stored. Dried and canned fruits, the sugar content keeps them safe to eat for years. Pasta and noodles, if kept dry will never die.   It is lucky for a person to find such a place. A person can speculate that these food warehouses were abandoned in part due to the data crashes.
