When your parents take you to see the swan lake and your decide then and there that your lifes one true desire is to become the swan princess, it would not be considered unusual for your parents to then sign you up for ballet classes thinking you meant the role on stage.
Well thats not what the 5 year old who saw the ballet thought and so when she manifested beautiful swan wings her every wish and desire was fulfilled, but her parents had already signed her up for a years worth of ballet classes and so to ballet class she went.
What this five year old didn't know was that ballet was fun and challenging AND her new favorite thing, but as she grew so did her wings and they didn't stop, they also shed any lingering grey and became a pure white color.
They were enormous and unweildy and made her new favorite activity even harder because she had to compensate not just for human weight but the weight of her wings too. and even at 10 its become obvious that her human parts were going to grow into her wings, because she was well on her way to taller than average.
Her ballet master was better than most would have been, coming up with ways to hold her wings in different positions so that they would look graceful and beautiful and add to the dancing rather that detract with limp wings not doing anything, while also helping her to maintain balance.
She began to do ballet not only for fun but because it was where she could be herself her whole self without having to try and fit her wings in where they weren't accomadated, and also because it was one of the only acceptable ways for her to relive all the extra energy her new body composition allowed her to store.(It takes way more than human strength to be able to fly for hours.
When her parents realized at 7 that she was struggling in school not because of anything on her part but because the school didn't properly accommodate wingers, they looked into better places. They would do anything for her because she was their only child. They had both come from homes that forced them to become things they didn't want to be (Lawyer, Doctor) and they wanted to let her do the things that she loved. They had plenty of money and would have happily spent it to make her life easier but they soon found out that the best school for wingers was free, they were ready to pack up and move to the nearest Rookery Academy to them... or farthest for that matter. Whatever would make her happy and give her a good life.
SHE was torn at first because she had really grown to love ballet, but she had wings and yet had never been successful in actually getting off the group which was terribly frustrating and she wanted to know how to use them for flight. She was also afraid that whoever taught ballet at the new school wouldn't be as accepting as her current ballet master.
She said as much to them and they reached out the school she said she would be most interested in if they did decide to move. When the news reached Sals of a little ballerina who wanted to fly but also to dance and wanted to be accepted there as she was at her home studio, she notified Emilia Koehler who she knew would be just delighted to hear of a flying ballerina. And delighted she was, she was so enthusiastic she decided she just HAD to meet the non winger who made one of her precious childeren feel safe and wanted. When she met the ballet master she decided that this was a good person and so they would become one of her people. She gave them an offer they couldn't refuse and hired them to work at The Rookery
Her parents got a call back two days later saying that if they were willing to wait two weeks they would have the best ballet instructor for their that they could want.
When they took her to ballet class the next afternoon her ballet master who the whole family had grown close to told them that they had been offered a wonderful position at The Rookery in New Houston and that they would be leaving to work there in two weeks. Needless to say SHE was overjoyed and immediately said that she was going to move too and that she was SOOOO HAPPY.
These intellegent people (doctor and lawyer remember) connected the two dots and once they had left her in the class for the time being immediatly called the rookery again and requested to talk to who had arranged this (the main staff tried to delay or stop the call from happening but they were very persistant). After speaking with Emilia for quite some time they were satisfied, had a home arranged in one of the Rookeries townhomes, and jobs working in the interests of the Rookery.

General Physical Condition
She is very fit as she has been pursuing ballet for the past 5 years. Agile and graceful she is already starting to gain the hallmark physical traits of a dancer.
Body Features
Her wings are that of a trumpeter swans as she is from north america and not russia as the swan from swan lake was.
She is very obviously going to be tall and right now her body looks pretty long and lanky.
Facial Features
Pretty round face with coming to a point at her chin. Rosy cheeks with freckles heaviest at her cheekbones and much sparser on the rest of her face.
Physical quirks
She may look long and gangly but she walks like a dancer and its very noticable.

She's had wings for as long as she can remember and yet has never been successful in actually getting off the ground which is terribly frustrating and makes her feel like a failure.
She couldn't learn well because the school didn't accomatade well for wingers so her academic level is below where she would like it to be

She feels like her wings and all the extra needs that came with them made her a burden to her parents, taking up time that they could have spend together and making their lives more difficult.
