Lux Moss
Within most forests in the pacific northwest you will find moss. This is common due to the temperatures and the high moisture content in the air. After the reawakening of magic, a new type of moss began to grow. It glowed with a soft blue light. At first researchers thought it had developed a bioluminescence but as time passed and magical researchers added their findings to the organic plant matter it was discovered that the moss was a tremendous source of magical power.
It was with great joy that they found that the moss was fairly easily cultivated. The issue was the overall nature of the moss in combination with how it provided power. The moss quickly lost both the glow and the magical power if not being cultivated [i.e., if you tried to dry it to pound into a powder, or if you tried to put it into a tea]. It is edible and quite delicious but does not convey its power to those who consume it. In order to harness and utilize the magic power the moss creates you have to keep the moss alive. From the moss' perspective this is a brilliant evolution.
The most common use for the moss is to power outdoor equipment. One company created a set of outdoor lights for backyards and parks. Another uses it to power fountains and other water features at parks and playgrounds. It requires tending and maintenance so most uses are in places where people would already be tending to plants. It makes for amazingly beautiful living walls in offices.
So far the most unusual use to date has been a charity that uses the moss in small 'flashlight' terrariums which it freely hands out with free meals at homeless shelters. The moss needs very little to survive meaning and the shape of the container allows for use as a flashlight or a lamp. Providing light to the homeless has reduced crimes against individuals and homeless communities. They are currently working on using the power provided by the moss to provide both heating and cooling on a personal scale so that these could provide heat and cooling as well as light.

I'm addressing Moss I love that you have to keep it alive to use its magical properties. And love the different ways to get used and areas so that way it keeps being intended as part of the garden cool article
Thank you! Nature finds a way, right? It helps the moss to thrive and it helps people too. :)
