Medos

Guardian of Nature and Tradition

Qualifications

Appointment

A ceremonial process that combines elements of heredity and mystical selection. Candidates are typically descendants of the previous Medos, ensuring a continuity of guardianship over the kingdom’s traditions and spiritual practices. To be formally appointed, a candidate must demonstrate a profound connection to the natural world and significant druidic abilities, often through a series of tests overseen by the Council of Elders. This ensures that the new Medos is not only of the rightful lineage but also spiritually and magically qualified to lead.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Medos in are multifaceted, centering on spiritual, ecological, and governmental duties. They oversee the spiritual rituals and ceremonies that align the kingdom with natural cycles and energies. Additionally, the Medos is responsible for the ecological stewardship of Edhen, ensuring that the kingdom’s policies and practices sustain and enhance the natural environment. They also guide the kingdom in political matters, particularly those that intersect with environmental and spiritual well-being, mediating conflicts and maintaining the balance between human communities and the natural world.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The removal or dismissal of the Medos is a rare event, treated with great solemnity and due consideration. It can occur if the Medos is unable to fulfill their duties due to severe health issues or if they are found to have grossly violated the spiritual or ethical codes of Edhen. Such a decision is made by the Council of Elders, following a detailed investigation and consultation with other spiritual leaders within the kingdom. The process is designed to ensure that any action taken is in the best interest of Edhen's people and their deep connection to nature.
