Knights of Virdin

Of all the orders of knighthood in the history of Damara, none was greater than the fabled Knight Protectors of Damara. Once many hundreds in number, they were destroyed when Zhengyi defeated King Virdin at the Fords of Goliad. Throughout their history, these knights were formidable warriors with a matchless reputation for courage and honor. The dozen or so that survived the defeat of the rightful King of Damara went into hiding and rebranded themselves the Knights of Virdin.     Working from the shadows, the new Knights of Virdin worked towards a day when the rightful King of Damara would again sit on the Kingdom's throne. The first few years were difficult for the Knights, as Zhengyi's purge of the noble lines of the dukes and barons eliminated any aid or succor they might receive. Only in Bloodstone would the Knights be able to operate openly, and the leadership of that dark time decided that it would be best to be a force from the shadow, operating inside the lost provinces of the kingdom.     It was said that their main headquarters was in Heliogabalus, right under Baron Dimian Ree's nose. Even with the assistance of Tightpurse, the Baron was unable to uncover the Knights hideout. Soon however, the Baron made headway. He began to round up the families of the remaining Knights and execute them, and seemed to take great delight in the beheading of the Knight's children especially.     Finally he uncovered the Knight's sanctuary in the sewers beneath the Old Quarter. Calling on his master Zhengyi's assistance. His forces and powerful undead created by Zhengyi stormed the sanctuary and slew the last of the Knights. And thus, under cover of darkness and deep beneath the city, the Knights of Virdin perished.     Recently however, a band of heroes calling itself the Magnificent Seven uncovered the Knight's stronghold and slew the undead they found within.

Symbol: Those with ties to the Knights of Virdin wore a variety of symbols, usually in the form of a broach or ring, to denote their allegiance to the order. Some of these symbols include a blazing sun, a ruined castle, and a mailed fist clutching a burning orb.   Background, Goals, and Dreams: The Knights of Virdin, while few, had powerful supporters in many of the provinces in and around Damara.  Members of this affiliation included not only the knights of the order but those who aided them in their purpose as well.  While the order is currently defunct, it had a network of skilled informers and conspirators who are able to wreak havoc in areas where the order has influence, in effect causing nearly as much damage and disruption as a small army on the loose.  The ultimate goal of the Knights of Virdin was to see a rightful and lawful king once again sit upon the Damaran Throne.
