Mistmaster, Blackhand Garath Brychan

Gareth Blackhand was born Gareth Byrchan in the Sembian city of Selegaunt. After adventuring extensively, he ended up in Vaasa with his companions. Here, their leader Kraig Karridian, a fighter by trade, chose to build a castle in the old ruins of Moortown with the help of the ranger Gellor Shadowstalker. When both were killed during a raid against a giant stronghold, Gareth (who had taken on the name Mistmaster) took over construction of the keep.
Mistmoor Castle now serves as a waypoint and safehouse in the wilds of Vaasa. Adventurers pay a fee depending on whether they pitch a tent in the courtyard or take a room or suite in the Mistmoor Inn.

Gareth first found himself as apprentice to Munipoor the (not-so) Magnificent in Selgaunt. After years of sweeping, fetching, and cleaning, he chanced upon meeting a wizard only known as the Blackmage. For a few years, he would run Munipoor's errands during the day and learn from the Blackmage at night.
