Orothiar Hall
High above Bloodstone Valley wends a road. Humans who take this road pass through an impressive gatehouse before finding themselves in a courtyard full of merchants. Several buildings flank this courtyard, though visitors are only allowed in three of them.
Here the dwarven Clan Orothiar trades with the other people of the vale. The open buildings consist of The Golden Granite Inn and Tavern, Mother Torvard’s Boarding House and the Orothiar Guildhall.
The courtyard is a flurry of activity almost any day of the week, with stone booths set up around the perimeter, and areas for tents, stalls and wagons throughout the grounds. True to their orderly nature, the dwarves of Clan Orothiar have measured and staked the courtyard, and merchants rent various lots for their wares. Unlike human marketplaces, the merchants are lined up in rows, with easily navigable pathways between the merchant “blocks”.
The buildings built into the mountainsides are off limits to non-clan members, even fellow dwarves. Rumors have the total population of Orothiar Hall at around 500 dwarves, but no one has ever seen that many.
The Clan earns most of its gold by hiring out as miners in the Bloodstone Mines. Though the Bloodstone Mines are technically held by the Duchy, and thus by King Gareth Dragonsbane, without the dwarves, the entire operation might come crashing down.
