16.3.4.3 Returning to the Forge!

Military action

The next few entries are over the next few minutes.. We reclaim the forge.. almost silently.. Then We paused a moment to talk with an Anti-Chamber.

Daemon Teleported us all to "Forgeheart" below the Forge. Over two days we plan our assault. Waiting until midday on the 12th to secure the place.   AS the deeper darkness fades on the doorways into Z4 "the atrium" and z5 "the forge" we make our move.
we sneak out of the secret passage and spread out along the raised dais. We surprise the Ogre Soldiers that were standing guard at the door, unfortunately for them they were playing dice and not keeping watch.. a few volleys of arrows and some silent bullets and the first two drop. the two by the big door look up, one goes to make sure the others are ok, as they dont respond to the sentry's challenge. To bad he left his friend alone at the door, that guy too is peppered with arrows into the door, he dies shortly afterwards himself. We have slain the four ogre soldiers, but still hear the sounds of snoring from the burned out choir loft.
Luna makes a jump up there and slips into the shadows. Its four hill giants, drunk and passed out. They roll 2-1 on perceptions so keep snoring. She tears the throat out of one. Adler and Varr'os keep overwatch with their bows and rifle. Luna tears out the throat of another hill giant. Dredoc grabs one of Ingird spare handaxes as she draws her waraxe. the two move in silence and tandem to slit the throats of the last two hill giants.
We spend a couple of minutes dragging the ogre's and giant bodies into front of all the doors and lower the bars which, as the doors all open into the forge chamber in effects seals to the chamber from almost anything short of a battering ram wielded by giants.
We head north into the Antechamber. The ante-chamber tells us it has always been a part of but separate from the chamber so it has chosen chambers as its favorite enemy ohh and by the way there are almost a dozen giants inside the chamber.. Confused we look at each other and shrug, Varr'os says thanks ante-chamber.
Dredoc kicks open the door, Adler and Ingrid let loose a volley of arrows into one of the giants, Varr'os reloads, making sure the seed rifle holds live ammo. Dredoc shoots with the light crossbow. The Frost giant roars in pain and lumbers around the table. his companion also draws its ice axe.. meanwhile down the chamber the other giants continue making merry and drinking and feasting.
Soon the first frost giant falls with more arrows in its chest. the second is hurt bad, and dies before it can get close enough to the heroes of trunau. The sounds of drinking and merrymaking stop as the other giants finally notice what is going on. They charge, one grabs a couple more guards from outside. The chamber is huge 320' long and 140' wide we measured afterwards. Luna also charges managig to bite and trip one of the ogres. One of the hill giants falls to arrows as the other races down and grabs the frost axe of the ice giant soldiers. One of the ogres falls, the others close, luna is facing off three, she gets smacked hard, trips the first one again and tears its throat out.
The hill giant grabs the ice greataxe but alas its too late, he is peppered with arrows and bullets, he does get of an attack of opportunity against varr'os but its merely a flesh-wound. the hill giant dies from the combined volleys. Meanwhile luna bites another ogre but doesnt manage to trip it. the two ogres swing their Ankus (Mammoth Goad)'s and dang near kill Luna. she lies bleeding out. Varr'os runs under the table to reach her..
Across the room Ingrid has been dropping ogres left and right with her bow. Adler takes off like a cheetah to shoot the one ogre that was trying to flee the chamber to get help and kill it.
Dredoc just cant get a good shot with the crossbow so decides to scout out the two small chambers to the north. choosing the left one. the pantry. he finds a bundle of one scroll of Cure Light Wounds (CL 8) where Ferrin said she would stash them for us. He also finds a large sized broom, that glows to his magic eyes (detect magic) and upon investigaction he figures out that it is a Flying Broom, Though its ancient and alot of the bristles have been removed. it can only carry at most a medium sized creature.
Back in the dining hall the others are still fighing. Luna has stabalized herself, Varros is shooting away at the last ogre, but bairly winging it. Ingrid has slain another couple of ogres and is shooting over varr'os at the last ogre. Adler too is shooting at it. For some reason this guy held out longer then the others. Finally he falls. Varr'os pulls out his cure light wounds wand and uses 11 charges to full heal Luna and then himself.
we take stock of the situation and pile up all the bodies by the door, securing it with so much weight that not even a battering ram will get through.. If the giants want to retake the forge they will either have to come in through the Walls themselves or through the back entrance to the smokestacks.
We pause for the night.
