Grip of the Mind Thieves, Chapter 11: Race Against Overmind Report
General Summary
BREAKING NEWS!
RIOT IN THE PARK!
An evening concert, turned photo opportunity for the Knights Vigilant vigilante team, became violent this evening in a mysterious turn of events.
Eye witness accounts indicate that during the concert in Central Park, the local vigilante team of the Knights Vigilant, made an appearance just minutes after their explosive battle at Pier 99. The team spread out, and seemed to be concerned about the drones and balloons flying over the area.
However, this took an unusual turn when the newcomer to the team, Bronze Tempest , posed for photos and signed autographs! Knights Vigilant teammates Moon Knight and Loki, sporting a new pair of mechanized wings, handed out ink pens to the gathered crowd.
Yet, unconfirmed accounts report that during this, part of the Knights Vigilant slipped away. Taki, Sahara, and Statesman headed for the station of Stan Lee in that part of Central Park, only to disappear below ground using one of the city's maintenance access points.
Meanwhile, after handing out autographs and posing for photos with the crowd, the remaining Knights Vigilant split up and seemed to examine both balloons and the small hobby-sized drones that were scattered across the area. Moon Knight and Tesla Coil paid particular attention to the balloons. Nearby eye witnesses suggest the pair may have been concerned that the balloons concealed something more than helium given how careful the heroes were.
Suddenly, for reasons still unknown, Bronze Tempest leaped up to grab one of the small hobby drones. The small device reacted, by sprouting crab-like limbs and rapidly pummeling the vigilante. As if on queue, every nearby hobby drone followed suit, extending crab-like limbs, ready to defend or attack at a moment's notice.
The crowd of locals quickly dispersed, or moved to a safer distance while the vigilantes tried to gather up the balloons, all the while fending off the crab drones. In the middle of this, five larger drones each armed with miniature paintball Gatling guns attacked the area.
Firing at both balloons, vigilantes, and anyone nearby, these combat oriented drones seemed bent on general destruction. At the time of this reporting, the Knights Vigilant were combating the attack drones. Meanwhile, the police are tied up with events at the 59th Street Marine Transfer Station.
The question, however, begs to be asked. Could the Knights Vigilant be the cause of this swath of destruction? Was their fight at the transfer station somehow a distraction for this new explosion of violence, which in turn masks another publicity type stunt? Knights Vigilant, are they 'hero' or 'menace'?
OOZE EXPOSE: ORIGIN OF THE OOZE, PT 4
by Meil MingIn the continuing independent investigation into the Orange Ooze mutagen that threatens New York City's Central Park area, the Dawn Sun Register has uncovered more information concerning this chemical. The expose now had headed to Vibora Bay.
Analysis from Phoenix Industries is still pending, however unofficial sources suggest that the Orange Ooze mutagen did not originate in a lab but has a natural origin. Independent inquiries turned up information that the ooze may be related to smuggling operations in both the New York and Vibora Bay areas.
These smuggling activities have been tied to the Bonegrinders gang in Vibora Bay and the Golden Lotus organization in both New York and Vibora Bay. Reports from the authorities in Vibora Bay have suggested a tie between these mysterious Ivory Talons and the Bonegrinders. So far, this is only an unproven theory.
Questions among the locals along the Weston Shore district of Port Thicket in Vibora has turned up few leads. But eye witness source that wishes to remain anonymous, recounted activity around the Railroad Museum in the Weston Shore district. This activity included, among other things, transport of crates that were stained with the familiar orange glow of the Orange Ooze.
At this time, all leads point to Weston Shore district and the Vibora Bay Railroad Museum.
FROM THE BLOTTER
Police responded this evening to another outbreak of violence, this time at the 59th Street Marine Transfer Station at Pier 99.
This followed on the heels of a local vigilante group combating a collection of advanced robotic attack devices that had taken several city employees hostage. These devices were delivered to both the NYPD CSI division and the NYPD's Meta division, Code Blue, for study.
Local gang members of the Disco Boys, provided key eye witness accounts of the rescue on the part of the vigilante team as well as leads to the origin of the robotic devices.
Rescued city employees have been taken in for care and treatment at the time of this reporting.

CITY BEAT
An anonymous source reported that city employees from the Department of Sanitation of New York discovered an open maintenance door in one of the underground utility junctions beneath Central Park. This door, leading to an abandoned subway terminal, had been sealed for safety due to the age of the abandoned terminal.
City records indicate that the terminal had been slated for repurposing or destruction, yet the project had become stalled some years back in the City Planning office.
This crew from the city's Sanitation Department are part of the division tasked to clean out the lower levels of the NYC underground system of mold and other hazardous materials. The same anonymous source reported that the crew identified members of the local vigilant group, the Knights Vigilant, had uncovered an advanced facility previously unknown beneath New York's surface.
Descriptions of the vigilantes match that of Taki, the Statesman, and Sahara. At the time of this reporting, the vigilantes had possibly uncovered a concealed headquarters of one of the local criminal organizations. Potentially, the dangerous Science Court that routinely plagues the city.

STAR LABS / WAYNETECH PROTOTYPE TEST CONTNUES
Mid-day the new STAR Labs / WayneTech "Avatar" prototype took its first steps today outside the lab.
Fledgling research into the world of human to machine communication took a bold new step today with the joint progress reporting success as a 'drone pilot' was able to successfully manipulate a holographic drone under controlled conditions.
This hologram was, with limited success, able to allow the pilot to access and enter a hazardous area though a new neural interlink technology.
