General Summary

BATTLE IN THE HALLS OF HISTORY!

    by Oscar Locke

Smoke continued to boil out of the Museum of New York City today while patrons were treated by paramedics. NYFD teams descended on the museum while NYPD cordoned off the area.

But the real story was inside. At the inner gallery dedicated to 1920s New York, rumors persist that the local vigilantes, the Knights Vigilant, took on a pair of mysterious combat-equipped robots. The fight took at least an hour, with snatches of security footage showing the highly advanced robots were made from hundreds of smaller robots. This arrangement allowed a single "robot" to change shape, taking on various forms.

Fortunately, the museum's protective security measures had taken effect, so objects such as the diorama, historical photographs, and period paintings were covered by metal shutters. However, in the battle some of the shutters were broken off to use as makeshift weapons against the destructive combat robots. This issue of collateral damage will no doubt spark new discussions in the 'Licensed Hero' bill debate. But by using them as improvisational weapons, Bronze Tempest and the rest of the Knights Vigilant were able to stop the combat robots, preventing damage to the museum and its exhibits.

At the same time, members of the Disco Boys gang attempted to slip into the museum during the confusion. Their intent had been to steal many of the near priceless relics that would bring a handsome price to private collectors. But during the fight against the robotic marauders, the Knights Vigilant took the time to stop members of the local gang in their tracks.

An anonymous source indicated that right now, there may be as many as four security guards that are afflicted with the mysterious orange ooze affliction that has haunted the Central Park area. This same source is quoted to say that the Knights Vigilant are inside trying to contain the four security guards before any harm can come to them or the museum. Reports are that the target of the attack was the antique diorama of 1920s New York that includes the now unused prohibition tunnels under the city.

The curator, Matt Spenser, had this to say.

"The Museum of New York City does not officially take a stance for or against vigilantism. However, in this unusual time, we respect the help provided by the New York Police Department, fire department, and New York's own local brand of volunteer help in dealing with the situation."

There is more to come as this story develops.

ORANGE OOZE EXPOSE: ORIGIN OF THE OOZE

by Meil Ming

As part of an independent investigation into the mysterious orange ooze that plagues the Central Park area, Dawn Sun Register has uncovered information that may connect the ooze with a recent aborted attack on one of the city water reservoirs.

A few weeks back, a group of criminals attempted to vandalize or sabotage the Delaware Aqueduct, one of the primary water supplies for New York City. It's a matter of record that the Knights Vigilant were instrumental in stopping the attempt but reports have been sketchy as to the details.

Information obtained from anonymous sources indicate samples taken from unusual residue found at the aqueduct bear a strong similarity to the orange ooze currently being used in the current string of events around Central Park. Police reports from the aqueduct incident list the vandals as members of a new "hawk themed" gang. A source, wishing to remain unnamed, indicated this gang's name may be the "Ivory Talons". In New York, with its collection of colorful characters, this isn't unusual.

However, members of this gang have been connected to recent gang war events in Chinatown that resulted in the theft of an illegal chemical shipment to the alleged criminal organization known as the "Golden Lotus". Likewise, these same members of these Ivory Talons have been connected to events in Metropolis and even as far south as Vibora Bay.

When contacted, the representatives of the Golden Lotus refrained to comment. Also, the Metropolis SCU, New York's own Code Blue, or Vibora Bay's SPD unit have given any comment on the matter.

What is interesting is that the strange chemical's origin is tied to the arrival of the Ivory Talons and the troubles with the Golden Lotus organized crime syndicate. However, footage acquired from an anonymous source of the recent events at Central Park show a mysterious shape near each of the assaults on NY city employees. There is no evidence to support that this figure is an unidentified member of the Ivory Talons.

Analysis of the footage is ongoing, but current results suggest a high degree of technology being used. Anonymous sources in law enforcement suggest this may be the result of the criminal inventor, "Dr. Overmind". When contacted, Detective Kato MacHale of the recent NYPD task force refused to comment on the speculation.

More on this as information becomes available.

FROM THE BLOTTER

Police recovered five members of the Disco Boys who attempted to rob the Museum of New York City during the middle of a potential emergency at the museum. They have been taken into custody along with remote capture of the security feeds that clearly show their robbery attempt.

Detective Kato MacHale, leading the NYPD task force reports that investigations are ongoing into the connection between a previously unknown gang that assaulted the Delaware Aqueduct a few weeks ago and the current problems with the meta-chemical. He did not suggest any information whether the gang is still causing the trouble or if a new threat is involved.

POLITICS

The 'Licensed Hero' bill moves forward through the city legislature today with the tentative provision of 'consulting hero' where a licensed hero would be considered a 'consulting expert' law enforcement could tap into as a resource when needed. Debates have begun in earnest over the legality of 'hero alliances' as it pertains to a court of law.

STAR LABS / WAYNETECH PROTOTYPE TEST CONTNUES

Mid-day the new STAR Labs / WayneTech "Avatar" prototype took its first steps today outside the lab. Fledgling research into the world of human to machine communication took a bold new step today with the joint progress reporting success as a 'drone pilot' was able to successfully manipulate a holographic drone under controlled conditions. This hologram was, with limited success, able to allow the pilot to access and enter a hazardous area though a new neural interlink technology.
