Ivory Talons, Chapter 5: Deadly Dancing in the Dark Report
General Summary
Saturday, September 12, 2009, 2:00 am - Manhattan, NY
Construction site of Oscorp Convention Center, New York City
The rolling inky black waves of energy drenched the top floor of the construction site in darkness. Only the rarest light from the surrounding city managed to penetrate the obscuring blackness that tried to eat almost all available light.
Submerged under the dire maelstrom of darkness, the Knights Vigilant got their bearings then dove further into the conflict. The battle was rough, with Taki fighting a highly skilled opponent that was nearly her equal in skill! Meanwhile, in the middle - Statesman struggled to help Mr. Freeze confront the Clock King while under the mental assault of the Queen of Masks. The last two of the team, Sahara and Moon Knight, took on the seven attack androids from the Science Court!
Meanwhile, two hawk-human troopers - responsible for the darkness grenades - flew nearby as if waiting to strike. As the fight raged on, and the Knights Vigilant slowly gained the upper hand against the combined force of the Crypt Carnival teams, the Science Court androids, and the Clock King - the troopers attacked.
Firing at select targets with a mysterious energy weapon, anyone it touched overloaded their bioelectrical system and drained them. Even a near miss sapped heroes of some physical ability or even a little of their powers.
However! In the end, the Knights Vigilant carried the day! Using the Science Court androids as projectiles, Sahara hurled them at the hawk-people. Moon Knight dealt with the Queen of Masks by - eventually using a sleep scarab on her. Taki out-maneuvered the Crypt Carvnial juggler knocking the wind out of him. And between Statesman and Mr. Freeze, the Clock King was subdued.
After the fight, the heroes searched the open area of the under-construction building. In the back corner, they located what appeared to be a make-shift chemistry lab. There was a gas chromatograph, two medical-grade centrifuges, samples of varying sizes of some mysterious powder, and research notes on a Grail Industries pharmaceutical product!
Then there was the force field generator! Originally used as a means to cage Mr. Freeze, it was Moon Knight who realized aspects of the device were using technology more advanced than anything even Wayne Tech, Lex Labs, or Stark Enterprises could manage. Not only that, but he also located notes inside the device written in a strange language he had never seen before.
However, Sahara had.
The notes were written in Thanagarian. The language of the hawk-people that Sahara had helped during his adventures with SAFEGUARD as they worked to prevent an invasion of the Kryptonian Union! They quickly took pictures of that as well for later study.
As for the Clock King, now restrained, Statesman took the high tech glove off the Clock King, telling the others that he suspected this was the source of the Clock King's mysterious advanced abilities. Meanwhile, Mr. Freeze interrogated the Clock King as to where the Clock King had stashed the technology and Crystal Vine Powder the man had stolen. All he learned was that Clock King was hired to commit these crimes! He was hired by a person named Dr. Zyler Killian.
But!
The echoes of police sirens rang in the night air. Quickly, the team grabbed this evidence and hurried to the "fantasticar". From there, they launched into the night, looking for a rooftop or place to rest ... recover ... and plan their next move based on the evidence gathered ... not to mention deciding what to do about this Dr. Zyler Killian...
