The Lantern of Revelation is a legendary artifact that was forged in the Dawn Age by a Scions of the Dawn only known as the Lighter Bearer who created to reveal the darkness that began to spread across their people in an attempt to stop the corruption, however, it was not enough and the lantern is now one of a few relics that have been recovered from their fallen civilization.

History

The Lantern of Revelation was created in the final years of the Dawn Age before its inevitable collapse caused by a being only known as the Deceiver, a Scion who was corrupted by The Gloom and lead many of their people astray from the warm of the light and into the coldness of the dark. The creator of the lantern, the Light Bearer revealed the truth through the Deceiver's lies for all to see, but the damage was already and led to the War of the Fractured with the Harbinger of the Dark Tide. Though the fate of the Light Bearer remains unknown, the lantern would survive as it would be lost for most of the Shadow Age and would be rediscovered by Romdel Everlight deep with the frozen peaks of the Everfrost Mountains in a long-forgotten temple from the Dawn Age. With its power, he would create a beacon of light to gather the faithful and create a convent known as the Temple of Integrity that would later aid in the formation of the Congregation of the Eternal Spark. Since that time the lantern would stay within the temple as a holy relic and was only used in times of need to ensure that the darkness of lies and deception did not lead them astray from the light. Many pilgrims often visit the temple to see the lantern and for guidance from it when they are filled with doubt and seek the truth to find peace for themselves.
The lantern would also be transported from time to time as well, often in great historical events, such as the Betrayal of Oranus Serpent Tongue, that help avoid the destruction of Turon, the Dawn Crusade campaigns to week out corruption with their ranks and the Trial of Helena the Fair, clearing her of the fall accusations of murder that were brought to her. The lantern itself is not without its faults however as it can only be used only a few times before needing to recharge for several days before being used again. This power can be abused as well, as sometimes secrets need to be kept in order to safeguard the world and people who wish to use the lantern to learn of them can be very dangerous if the lantern were to fall into their hands. Making it all the more important for only a select few individuals known as Lantern Bearers to be allowed to carry the Lantern at all times as they are trusted not to abuse its power. Making it a relic that could aid in bringing down the world as much as saving it should ever fall into the wrong hands.

Significance

The relic itself has been coveted by Congregation of the Eternal Spark as a relic of great significance due to its power and history surrounding it. Considering one of the purest relics in their collection its power is only used in times of great conflict when the truth is often clouded in facts unknown to many. The relic itself is seen by the faith as a symbol of purity and a gift of the Spark to only allow truth to guide them and should lies cause them to doubt the lantern would reveal them to show that the light has not abandoned them. Making it all the more reason for the lantern to be under constant protection at all times to avoid it being stolen or destroyed, being protected by none other than the monks that have safeguarded it for centuries.

Within the Lantern of Revelation lies a brilliant blue crystal, that is in fact crystallized Radiance, a rare form of Radiance that is only found naturally or it is possible that the Scions were able to artificially make it. Whatever the case, it was specially made to reveal the darkness of a person by seeing if they are lying about something in front of them or if they have a much greater darkness hidden from them. If a lie is spoken then its light reveals it by displaying it in a set of words to deem it so. As for a person's dark nature, the light of the lantern will be unbearable as it begins to burn them as the darkness begins to surface across their body. Making it impossible for anyone to hide from its all-knowing light.
