" The small land "

It is said the first Gnome families came together swearing to mark this land for the small ones and thus created the famous Gnome motto " Together but Alone. " After this, the families would split up becoming the Deep, Hill, and Forest Gnomes. The Deep and Hill live mainly in and under the hill systems of the land while the Forest Gnome would stay in the shadows of the trees this is until meeting and over some years form an alliance with the halflings of the plains bringing the Forest Gnomes out to the grasslands. They would keep mostly to themselves until making a deal with the Leicester Alliance to build roads throughout the nation as well as building a city for all within if they do this they have the promise of protection from the Alliance.

Structure

Deep and Hill Gnomes normally only live in small family units not needing a government unless coming together in times of emergency. During these times it is customary for the largest and strongest family to take charge. These Gnomes make up The Stunted Slopes. The Forest Gnomes and Halflings work differently with somewhat of a feudal system going on most plots of land are owned by a Gnome and Halfing family one normally in charge of running the land and the other protecting it. The land shared between the Gnomes and Halflings is known as Timberhome.
