Session 17: Battle of the Bastards

General Summary

Dameila turns down Langdedrosa and Thoril accepts the duel. The half-dragon intimidates the paladin before lashing out with his spear. Rowan’s arrow flies true and strikes the half-dragon as the berserkers rush at PCP. One by one the party lands good hits but falls unconscious to the superior foes. Rowan with her last breath dashes to the fallen Dameila feeding her a good berry. With a pleading look Rowan is knocked out and Dameila is offered a position in the Cult once more by Langdedrosa. Dameila feigns interest long enough to save Hadden as he was about to critically die. Not amused by this, the enemy attacks, the party is knocked out and thrown in the drake pit to feed the dragon hatchlings.

The next morning the party awakes in the pit without their gear and weapons. With only a dagger and set of tools the party escaped the confines of the cage and ambushed the guards that were picking through their loot. In a brave battle of fists, the party barraged the three kobolds and cultist, defeating them and reclaiming their possessions. After some time, healing and preparing for battle, PCP heads back into the shrine of Tiamat, sure that the information they require lies on the other side.

There waited the foe that had defeated and imprisoned them the night before, but PCP was prepared this time and their foe looked haggard from working through the night. As PCP ambushed the half-dragon and guard from behind, a trap is triggered and the room fills with acidic mist. Hadden clears a path for his allies to exit the gas into the hallway with a gust of wind, but not before everyone’s lungs begin to burn from the polluted air. One by one the cult’s forces fall from the party’s blows and a desperate Langdedrosa unleashes his lightning breath on Rowan and Dameila before fleeing. Dameila falls into a stable slumber as her blood brother dies from the acid mist. His last words “Praise Tiamat! The mother of dragons shall return, and when that day comes, all the nations of the world shall tremble before her majesty!”

PCP after hearing an animalistic noise coming from the dark pits of the next room the party waited for the acid to reside and headed the opposite direction up a rope ladder heading to a small chute 40 feet above.
