Session 2: Adventure Awaits Report

General Summary

Hundreds of years ago, Delaan Winterhound and initiates of the "Order" defeated the vampire lord Gulthias, staking him in the fallen Citadel. In the year 1488 DR, a band of new adventurers, Rowan, Demeila, and Thoril make their way to the town of Oakhurst to investigate the claims of the missing Hucrele children. Outside town along the Old Road the party meets Hadden Balthier, a gnome ruffian getting interrogated by bandits. Thoril proclaimed his nobility and demanded explanation from the bandits, whom promptly drew swords and attacked. The defeated bandits were searched and besides coinage and cobbler, a sealed note was found. The partially burned note, sealed with a quality wax and stamp of an eyeball, signed R.T... Described orders to bring a brown eye halfling to somewhere. Hadden investigated their clothing to find well crafted black and red cloaks made for outdoor travel. He then took the burned remains of a cloak, donned it, and began to mend it back to use. Interested in learning more the party traveled to the constable's jail to speak with Felosial. After questioning the party regarding the attack she viewed their evidence and ordered her guards to begin an investigation into the bandits. She then warned that if she had more questions or answers, she would gather the group. At the Hucrele family merchant shop, Kerowyn, mother of the two missing adventurers, Sharwyn and Talgan, pleaded for their return, and promised 125 gp per person if their signet rings were returned, double for the return of her living children. They were last seen going to the Sunless Citadel North of town, with the ranger Karakas and the magic sword wielding paladin Sir Bradford. She also informs the group that the goblins residing at the Sunless Citadel sell them magic apples twice a year, but they are dangerous. The youngest Hucrele Anna sells Hadden her father's cork pipe with some tobacco for 5 gp. Rurik Lutgehr the blacksmith was found buring his dog Rover. It seems some creature has been attacking and killing local villagers and animals at night. He offers his weapons/armors for sale and will buy loot should the adventurers return. In the closing hours of the day the party was attacked by Diseased Giant Rat creatures which infected their party member Demeila with disease. With her health drained and her leg succumbing to the illness, the party searches for a cure. At Rurik's suggestion, the party looks to visit the town's temple of Pelor, where Paladin Dem "Corky" Nackle offers her services for a donation.
