Session 6 & 7 Report: Calcryx defeated

General Summary

The party made a deal with the goblin shamen Grenl, in exchange for removing Belak the druid from the Citadel, and leaving the 1st floor goblins alone, the party may try to take back the dragon Calcryx. The adventurers decided to take a long rest in the goblin throne room, and were ambushed by Balsag the bugbear. After a brutal battle the party defeated Balsag and his rats, and finished their long rest. Upon waking the group went back down the hall to the frozen door and unlocked it to find Calcryx the white dragon wyrmling. Sending Meepo in alone, the dragon froze and killed the kobold as repayment for years of cruel imprisonment. Fearing the dragon, the party let Dameila the dragonborn try to persuade the wyrmling to come with them back to the kobolds. Calcryx, full of himself demanded that all the goblins and kobolds should bow down and shower him with gifts, he would be nobody's prisoner. Not willing to separate from any of her treasure Dameila tried to run out of the room, but Calcryx had already spied a tasty snack hiding in the hallway.

With icy breath, flying wings, and ferocious claws the dragon tore at the party, and the brave gnome acolyte Erky Timbers perished in the battle. With a final flourish the dragon perished and the group was left wounded with no clear path on how to explain this to the kobolds that sent them to recover Calcryx. Upon returning to the goblins to rest again, they were met by an irritated Grenl who demanded to know why they had not yet dealt with Belak, before dispatching the dragon. Seemingly at the end of their hospitality the group began the descent down the well vines to the twilight grove below.

When a torch set some hay alight, Dameila threw hot soup down the well to extinguish it, revealing an ambush of twig blights and skeletons. After a brief battle the group made their way down the hall and into a rift in the cavern. A swarm of rats alerted by their presence pushed the group into a dragon alter shrine, where they caught their breath. Exploring the chasm more, they found some sapphire stones in a hole, but was attacked by a fire snake before they could be recovered. Hadden was knocked unconscious with a brutal multistrike, but the group won the battle. Trying to recover from their wounds the group sat to rest deep in the dungeon, but only a moment later, Hadden raising from his stupor hears the sound of tiny claws approaching. Before the exhaustion overtook them, the group raised their weapons as rats emerged once again from the dungeon walls aside them.
