Session 8: Kobold Ambush

General Summary

Surrounded by the claws of a rat swarm and diseased rats the group fled the rift of the twilight grove and clambered up the vines to find a place to recover from their wounds. Grenl the goblin shamen, irritated by their lack of progress and her ruined dinner, sent the group away. As the party marched back to the kobold den, they noticed the kobolds had spread through the dungeon taking the territory previously claimed by the goblins. Once returned to the den, the group attempted to fool Yusdrayl to believe that Meepo had been taken by goblins and the dragon had not been found. Yusdrayl pointed to a room in the center of the hall for them to rest. To the parties dismay, they found themselves in the kobold prison with four captured goblins. Unperturbed, they took turns on watch and took a long rest.

The group woke to sounds of movement in the hall, Dameila overhearing that the kobolds were in on their deception. The kobolds unlocked the door just as the group finished breakfast and ambushed them for killing their dragon and lying about it. A perilous fight continued as Yusdrayl and her reinforcements swarmed the group, determined to feed upon their corpses. It seems that the kobolds had found the dragon and Meepo's corpse throughout the night and could not be reasoned with. With a miraculous recovery, Dameila woke from unconsciousness and scared away the last of the kobold forces. She then saved the other three allies from the brink of death, the group tended to their wounds, surrounded by the bodies of Yusdrayl and her fallen clan.
