Artillery Stone-Render

Summary

The Artillery Variant of the Stone-Render cannon made use of its extended barrel and easily angled chassis to fire explosive rounds over still or slow-moving targets, and could decimate large expanses of land disconcertingly far inland from it's ocean platforms.

Description

The Barrels of the Artillery Variant of the Stone-Render Cannon were much longer than the standard variety, and were based on a wide, round platform that made use of two cranks to change the firing angle and rotation.

Utility

The Stone-Render Artillery Cannons were one of the most effective versions of the Stone-Render guns when it came to their intended purpose, city and fortress destruction. They could be aimed without rotating the ship, and as such the platforms they were mounted on could move to safety while the guns provided suppressing fire against whatever threat was posed to them at the time. The Rounds they utilized were modified to work without the striking pins (as they were fired with even greater force) and as such there was much more room for explosives within the cannonball.

History

These guns were by far the most expensive version of the Stone-Render to ever be constructed as they required a special rotating platform, and only a third of all Stone-Render Cannons ever made (totaling 5) were modified for use as Artillery guns. Two of these were mounted on the Silver Wings of Renic, whilst the others were mounted on three Ironstorm class artillery platforms.
