Blackened Tiorathan Steel
Summary
Blackened Tiorathan Steel, sometimes referred to as Imperial Dark Steel or Wrathsteel, was developed between the early and mid first age. It was even stronger than it's more well known counterpart Tiorathan Steel, and was magically active. Weapons and armor made with Wrathsteel were quasi-living, and increase the physical prowess of the user.Magical Properties
Blackened Tiorathan Steel had both inherent natural properties and was capable of being enchanted, a combination that was seldom seen elsewhere. Any enchantments laid on the blade would become twisted in such a way that would make it difficult to avoid causing harm, for example a suit of armor with some form of protective enchantment might redirect incoming projectiles back toward the aggressor, or failing that cast the projectile in a random direction. The weapons inherent magical effects increase the strength, speed, endurance, strategic capacity and martial prowess of the user while making them more aggressive. However this effect is weak at first and takes time and effort to build to a considerable capacity. The effects temporarily but rapidly increase the longer the user remains engaged in conflict, however these effects wear off quickly (barring the increase of aggression, which takes a considerable amount of time to fully wear off). Both the enchantment strength and resting strength (the strength of the weapon prior to conflict) can be permanently increased by commiting acts of violence (most effectively murder) using the item (this is most effective on weapons made from Wrathsteel, but works for other items as well). Due to the quasi-living nature of the item many users experience aggressive audible hallucinations after using the weapon for extended periods of time.Crafting
Blackened Tiorathan Steel was forged using the same method as standard Tiorathan Steel, however it was infused with crushed Thought Stone during refinement, and used a modified method of heat treatment. This process required that the blade be heat treated at far higher temperatures amongst powdered Seltien horn (the Seltien horn allows for contact based connection to the thought stone dust).Uses and users
Blackened Tiorathan Steel was used by the Tiorathan Hierarchy in the mid to late first age to forge weapons for the highest ranking members of the Tiorathan military, and saw use in both the northern and eastern fronts.History
Blackened Tiorathan Steel was first created in the early/mid first age, but did not see use until the mid first age as it was difficult to aqcuire enough Thought Stone to produce the alloy in decent quantities.
