Citadel Oron
Summary
Citadel Oron is the ruined remains of the governing building of Foran, the former capital of Oron'Hye before it's sacking in the 30th year of the second age. It is a place of fear amongst numerous cultures, particularly for the Oroni and Tiorathan people.Significance
Citadel Oron, often called the Demon Lord's Cradle, is feared by many who fought in the southwest of Tor'Saarn during the Sethiri conflicts. It was the sight of two of the most brutal massacres in Tor'Saarn's history, matched only in brutality by the destruction of the northern Seltien kingdoms in the first age. These events, the Sacking of Foran and the Slaughter known as The Demon's Feast are considered instrumental in understanding Olrad's transformation into the brutal marauder the Tiorathan's still remember him as. To this day the site is avoided by all but the most stout hearted travelers, and it is considered to be the center of a powerful curse. These rumors are not helped by the still remaining corpses of Tiorathan warriors, suspended in great columns of ice or hanging from the walls, pinned by Ice-spikes. The citadel and surrounding city are affected by an unnaturally fierce cold (cold even for Oron'Hye), and it is believed that the dead walk the city again at nightfall. The Main tower of the Citadel looms over the icy city, the top rent apart by great pillars of ice.History
The Citadel Oron began it's existence as a military outpost in the early days of Tiorath's occupation of Sethir, and would later become a great city with bustling markets, serving as the last stop for those headed south. After the The Sundering of Tiorath and the fall of the Tiorath empire the citadel was abandoned until the arrival of Olrad and the foundation of Oron'Hye as it's own nation. Under Olrad's governance Foran once again became the jewel of Oron'Hye, and was stable despite it's proximity to the Tiorathan loyalist controlled state that would become Nor'Tirath. However in the winter (or summer by northern reckon) the city was laid waste after a short seige at the hands of Tiorathan loyalists, marking the beginning of violent conflicts between the Tiorathan people and Olrad. Olrad would later return to Foran, brutalizing the forces of the Tiorathan loyalists and rending the citadel apart. This would mark the beginnings of Olrad's brutal attacks on Oron'Hye's northern border in an attempt to drive the war from his home. Olrad's brutal assaults on the Tiorathan forces led to his nickname among the Tiorathan people, The Demon Lord of Oron'Hye.
