Herost Seltien

Summary

The Herost Seltien are the most common strain of Seltien, and have a passion for martial and academic study. They make keen warriors and disciplined scholars, and in their old age are valued for their wide knowledge base.

Physical Description

Herost-Seltien typically stand between 170-196cm, and have moderate frames, typically being built in the mid-range of humanoid frames. Their appearances typically are similar to humans of the Tiorath strain (but slightly broader in build). However their hair is normally fairer. The most easy form of Recognition for their kind is the pair of small crystalline horns on either side of their forehead which match their eyes in color, and glow faintly when they are mentally stimulated. The also have growths of the same material that take the shape of small hexagons located on their palms and the bases of the neck and spine. These points act as magical focus points, and can be used to ground them to mystic focal points in a region of a world simply by lying flat on the ground with these crystalline structures making contact with the earth or grass on a starry night (At which time the horns are allowed to face the stars).

Psychological Description

Like all Seltien, the Herost Seltien seek knowledge and inspiration from sources across Tor'Saarn. The specific focus of the Herost is on information that can enhance their thought processes and logic skills, drawing them to both academic and martial practice. They are often attracted to scholars and cunning warriors, seeking training from such people, and may pledge loyalty to a particularly cunning warrior or learned scholar.

Range of Habitation

Melnir, Hyeros.

Cultural Basics

As with all Seltien ethnicities the Herost Seltien embark on pilgrimages beginning at adulthood. Their pilgramages typically last 2-4 decades, and are separated by a 2 year period in which they meditate on and record the information they learn during their pilgrimages. During their Pilgrimages the Herost Seltien often take employment as sellswords as this gives them an opportunity to put their martial knowledge into practice and to travel Tor'Saarn, all while making enough money to sustain themselves during the long periods spent away from their homes.

History

During the first age the Tiorathan Hierarchy sundered the land of Herost (amongst other Seltien kingdoms) in their search for thought stones. After the destruction of their homeland the Herost were scattered across the west, and many of them were ultimately enslaved by the young empire of the Tiorathan empire.   Throughout the first age the Tiorathans often used Herost Seltien to form the bulk of their slave armies. These slaves often earnt more freedom than the other races enslaved by the Tiorathan Hierarchy as their martial prowess made them a crucial part in the empire's war-machine, encouraging the empire to grant them greater rights as a means of siring what loyalty they could amongst the people of Herost.

Advanced Physiology

Skeletal and Muscular Structures The Herost Seltien have crystalline growths that protrude through the skin of their palms, the base of their neck and the base of their spine, which take the form of small crystal hexagons. Their horns are smaller than those of other Seltien, and are placed on either side of their forehead.   Diet Similar to humans.   Miscellaneous The Herost Seltien can increase the effects of their grounding sessions by performing them at place of great intellectual significance, as the great amount of higher thought within and around the location make the magical energy of the area more conductive to Herost grounding.
