Tinesword
Summary
The Tinesword is the weapon of choice for The Godcasters of Sether, a weapon who's means of construction is kept secret by the Godcasters. The Tinesword is wielded only by the Godcasters, and as such only four exist at a time, three for the High Godcasters Kilric, Endros and Olrad, and one for the lower Godcaster, Aih'aya.Development
Made from the legendary Singing Steel Alloy, the Tinesword is the weapon of choice for the Sethiri pantheon of gods, the Godcasters. The Tinesword is wielded exclusively by the Godcasters of Sethir and as such only four of these weapons exist at one time, three for the primary Godcaters, Kilric, Endros and Olrad, and one for the lower Godcaster, Aih'aya. Tineswords are designed to amplify or generate directed magical channels to make spellcasting easier and more efficient for the user.Users and Uses
The weapons serve both as swords in melee, and as ranged weapons capable of casting spells with abnormal strength. To cast spells through the weapon the user simply spins the blade at their side until a slight humming can be heard, then cast any spell they could otherwise cast through the blade. Spells cast through the weapon have greatly increased range and effect, at the cost of requiring a small charging period for the weapon. This effect is the result of spells being carried more easily due to the Tines of the weapon directing the magical fields created by spinning the blade forward, creating spell currents that carry the Godcasters elemental spells particularly well. The magical channels are directed, meaning the same effect that carries spells outward can be used to weaken incoming spells, meaning outgoing spells are often stronger than incoming spells, making the weapon adept at counter-spelling.Construction
The Tinesword has a structure like a long tuning fork in the center, the outer sides curving inwards until they come to a gap no thicker than the blade of a sword (with some variation in thickness depending on the blade being fitted to the Tines). Blades are fitted into each of the gaps, extending upward just beyond the Tines, ending with two tips that slant inward while still leaving a small gap. The two forks meet at their base becoming a metal rod, which serves as the core for the weapons handle. The handle can be made of a myriad of materials, and vary from weapon to weapon. However magical materials are favored, as they allow for spells to easily leach through the handle and into the weapons tines.Materials and Methods
The tines and blades of Tineswords are made from the mystical material known as Singing Steel, a mystical alloy that only the Godcasters know how to construct, a secret they guard carefully.History
The First Tineswords appeared in the second age during the war between the Tiorathan loyalists and Sethiri separatists.
