Issue 12: Tajic Murdered! Suspect at Large!
General Summary
All of Ravnica mourns the tragic loss of Tajic, the previous Blade of the Legion. Tajic, a monumental man who stood for the honor, duty, and loyalty of the Boros Legion was murdered by an unknown assailant during the Pride of Legion ceremony just outside of Vizkopa Bank in Precinct 1 this last week. While the Boros Legion and Azorius lawmages scramble to find the killer, the rest of the city takes a moment of silence for this fallen hero.
Tajic was born to simple means, a self-made man in the streets of Precinct 5. Tajic joined up with the Boros Legion at the young age of 15, joining the Junior Academy before entering Sunhome to officially join the ranks of the Legion. Tajic excelled at his schoolings, often being promoted above his peers. Tajic's first assignment was as a patrolman on the familiar streets of Precinct 5. He prioritized getting to know the citizens of his streets, taking their concerns seriously and producing results, even at his lowly station.
Before long, Tajic was selected for the Sergeant's Course in the Boros Legion and set back off to Sunhome for more training. He was sponsored by General Mantarthas, and quickly caught the attention of the Wojek and Skynight Legionnaires with his tactical prowess. Upon graduating with honors, Tajic was awarded a top slot for follow on training, in which he chose the Wojek school for Military Investigators.
Assimilating into the Wojek was easy for Tajic, as his charismatic smile and positive demeanor gave him a natural bond with the people of Ravnica. People looked up to Tajic for his leadership, but also to him as an inspiration of accomplishment and perseverance. Tajic naturally took to the Wojek exceptionally well, graduating his school with honors, allowing him to train with the Firemane Angels on Parhelion II.
Instead of jumping into more training, Tajic requested he be sent back to foot patrol for an additional year. When asked on this, he had a simple answer.
We do what we do for the people of Ravnica. If I do not know my people, how can I protect them effectively?
After being assigned to Precinct 2, Tajic took up a unit of soldiers as a Sergeant and continued to build bonds with the people of Ravnica. This decision caught the attention of Aurelia, who requested he be returned to train with the Firemane Angels upon completion of his tour in Precinct 2. Upon completion of his tour in Precinct 2, Tajic was beloved by most of the citizens he interacted with.
When he arrived at Parhelion II, Tajic spoke humbly in the presence of the elite Angel shock unit.
I am eager to learn from you, great masters. But, know that despite the knowledge you impart on me, my life is pledged to the people of Ravnica. It always will be.
Impressed with his demeanor, the Firemane Angels trained Tajic for 6 months in shock combat, learning to counter-attack, strike from a griffon, and carry out daring elite tactical maneuvers while moving at impressive speeds. He would set the record for the Firemane Obstacle Course, to be broken a year later by General Mantarthas. Upon graduation, Aurelia requested a specific audience with Tajic to discuss his future career in the Boros.
Tajic appeared before the Warleader, helmet in his hand. He spoke softly, truthfully, and gently, as if enunciating would hurt those around him. Amused by the timidness, Aurelia pestered Tajic to revealing his motivations for his service, only able to coax out his love for the people of Ravnica. Aurelia took time in her deliberation, but ultimately decreed Tajic to be on her personal War Council. Aurelia was asked on this decision, to which her reply was absolute.
I have never seen a mortal man care for those who do not know him as much as Tajic does for the people of Ravnica. A man like that is necessary and invaluable to the decisions I make for the protection of this city and the people that inhabit it.
Upon the death of General Mantarthas at the Day of Shadows, Tajic was appointed as Blade of the Legion, first to take the title. Since then, Tajic has served the interest of the people of Ravnica above all else, and is directly responsible for the prosperous state in which the city has grown to under his supervision. Ravnicans across all walks of life will dearly miss the Man before Men, Tajic. With his passing, Rumple will assume the command as Blade of the Legion. Tajic is survived by only his friends and comrades in arms in the Boros Legion. A statue is to be erected in his honor near Agrus Kos as a memento from the city in appreciation of his service. May he Rest in Peace.
