Episode 5 Well Crafted Plan
General Summary
June 29th.
Our heroes accept the contract with Jolin Svoil, a human bounty hunter that has found his way to Mesadorei in search of a criminal named Long Finger.
Interested in handling the bounty quickly, our party depart the Southern Crossing tavern and head towards the dwarven canals of Mesadorei where Jovil had revealed Long Finger might be hiding. Offering the party the information he had gathered thus far, he explains that Long Finger's men had been spotted coming in and out of the Knotted Beard brewery, though no sign of Long Finger.
The bounty hunter suspects that the gnome is hiding inside, but all his efforts of confirming his presence have been unsuccessful. Ready to storm the brewery and take the hired muscle on by force, he's roughly persuaded to allow the party to investigate the situation for themselves first.
As Quinlan Carrick and Tomas Netweaver approach the brewery, the two work together to sneakily plant Mr. Sparkles into the interior of the building. Relying on Quinlan Carrick's smooth talking and confidence, the man by the door is distracted enough to allow the small weasel to slip under the door behind him.
Brenun Drurunath heads to the neighboring business, The Blooming Beard, and questions the owner on his knowledge of the "routine maintenance" doing on next door. Getting a few hints to the assumption that the workers or owner had been paid off to vacate the business, Brenun Drurunath purchases a bouquet to cover his inquiry and departs back to the party.
Svenjamin Suetekh of Clan Akubola heads over to the Wing and the Fly, a local bar, in hopes of learning more about the situation and precuring questionable substances for his own use. Both pursuits bore no fruit.
Inside the brewery, Mr. Sparkles attempts to tip over a lantern to cause a distraction but is spotted by a baffled man. Failing to put the building to the torch, the rodent begins to scurry around the building as multiple men begin to rip the place apart in their search. This commotion spurs the rest of our heroes into action, as all other members of the party approach the brewery for their entrance.
Svenjamin Suetekh of Clan Akubola being the first one through the door, he magically persuades his initial attacker to burst into laughter before he strides deeper into the chaos of the building. Initially distracting the other men with a potential taste of illegal goods, his charisma is squashed by Jolin's choice to dispatch the still laughing greeter.
Combat ensues, the party trying to incapacitate the other men, but Jolin makes a point of killing another man before their leader bursts from his office in disbelief. Strong, tall, and imposing, Fugar looks over the situation and quickly brings the combat to a halt in hopes of learning what had lead to such mayhem.
Mostly speaking with Brenun Drurunath, Fugar eventually reveals that he is tired of holding up in this brewery and has lost his faith in Long Finger who resides in a sunken chamber beneath the brewery. This leads to a truce being formed where the party is shown the entrance below in exchange for the other men to walk out freely.
Once they're alone, the party descend down the freshly dug hole that connects down to a long forgotten spiral staircase. Moving deeper and deeper beneath the surface, they eventually find themselves stepping into an ancient dwarven ruin where a single source of dim light is matched with infernal mutterings. Seeking to know more, the party slowly progress forward before Jolin and Svenjamin Suetekh of Clan Akubola separate in search of their own information, stumbling upon a creature that surely isn't of this world...
