Episode 9 Krispy Kobold Kebabs
General Summary
On the evening of July 4th, our heroes find themselves at the farm belonging to Lensa Envaris, the west-most home in the town of Yevalune.
Having spent the day making preparations for a questionable plan, the group put forth their final concerns and thoughts regarding the burning of the barn and the potential results they might expect. Though as the conversation dies down and everyone takes up their positions, the party is left to wait in the failing light of the day to see if they prey stumble into their placed trap.
As night falls, the deadly pests show themselves, before perfectly luring themselves into the confines of the barn as the party watches on. Minutes pass as more of the kobolds slink from the darkness and continue to pack into the quickly cramped space, some of the stragglers beginning to compromise the barricade on the southern exit.
Reacting quickly, Quinlan Carrick sneaks down to the southern end of the barn and pulls away the troublesome explorers before slithering his way onto the roof of the barn. Though he kept the plan from falling apart, he is no longer in position to close the door and informs Ava Mornal that she must be the one to seal the kobold's fate.
Nearby, Tomas Netweaver spots the young girls nerves, creeping his way over to try and provide some comfort before she must dash out into danger. Barely getting his message across, the fragile tranquility of the night shatters as Ava Mornal leaps the barricade and is spotted by one of the looting monsters. Quickly being silenced by Brenun Drurunath, the young elf is given the precious seconds needed to rush towards the barn doors.
Despite her best efforts, Ava Mornal only manages to close one of the larger portals, her fear getting the better of her as the second remains wide open. With no time to discuss a solution, our heroes look on as Lensa Envaris bursts from her hiding place and charges with a mad craze towards the precarious moment.
Tossing the younger elf to the ground, the strength of a broken mother shows as Lensa Envaris throws shut the large doors and traps the large cluster of kobolds inside.
With everything falling into place, the following battle is marked by the screaming wails of incinerating creatures and the horrendous sound of desperate claws lashing out at burning wood.
In the fighting, Lensa Envaris is slain by a kobold's acid, falling into the flames of the barn as the party continue to mop up the remaining combatants.
Eventually, Tomas Netweaver scares the vast majority of the shattered monsters away, letting one slip back into the darkness as Svenjamin Suetekh of Clan Akubola captures one by forcing it into a deep slumber.
As the barn begins to crumble into the growing inferno, the party regroup and interrogate the captured kobold to try and learn more about what's to come. Gaining a few useful insights from the simple creature, he is eventually dispatched by Brenun Drurunath before the party decide to leave the beacon of the farm.
Crossing over the creek and into the nomadic lands, Ava Mornal tracks the kobold's trail over the next couple days until our heroes find themselves staring down at the imposing darkness of a secluded cave on the 6th of July.
