The Land of Talusdrad used to be the home of the Elder Races of the world, a land filled to the brim with exotic magic and knowledge. Elves and Gnomes lived in harmony with nature in the great forest to the west, Dwarves lived in the grand mountain ranges to the east, extracting many ores and minerals from deep below the ground and Halflings lived within small villages scattered across the heart of the land itself. The Elder Races lived peacefully for millennia until one day, a great light fell from the skies above.   This light turned out to be a meteor from the great above. When it hit the ground, it destroyed a great deal of Halfling civilisation replacing it with a barren crater protruding from the once lush plains of the land. The rest of the Elder Races worked tirelessly to help rehome their Halfling allies but a new danger was arriving from the far north...   To the younger races of the world, this meteor was seen as a gift from the gods above, more specifically the God of Light and Life Lathander. Many of these races travelled from far and wide on a great religious pilgrimage to find the impact site and claim it as their holy land. To begin with, the Elder Races saw these religious pilgrims as little to be concerned about and continued their effort to rehome their allies, but when the Younger Races started demanding land as their own and disrupting aid efforts fighting broke out between the two groups.   The Elder Races fought valiantly to keep their home but the pilgrims they had first thought of as no threat had a trick up their sleeves. The Young Races had powerful Paladins and Clerics of Lathander who broke their often peaceful nature to enact fire and flame upon the elder races. As they claimed the heartland for themselves and established the military camp of Calderen, which would later become their capital city, they turned their attention to the forest of the west.   The Young Races burned down the great forest and left the rotted ruin now known as Vandkess, unseating the elves and forcing them off the mainland. After that they turned to the mountains and began to cut off supply trades starving the Dwarves inside their great halls. Many a city died unwilling to budge, but others saw it as pointless to die out and made an agreement to leave to the islands of Odror Mond on the south west of the lands. After seeing the Dwarves fall, the elves fled to the ancient Isles of Lythaira to the south east, where they take seeds from the old magical forest to attempt to cultivate a new paradise for Elves of the future.   When the dust had settled, the Young Races started to lose their divine powers but the damage was already done. The Humans had gathered reinforcements from the north and now had a solid foothold on the mainland of Talusdrad. Many assumed the Gods had abandoned the Young Races for the horrors committed in their names. Some children of the Young Races are still born with divine powers and are raised by the church as attempted emissaries of peace, focusing on the aspect of life rather than that of light.   With the Young Races taking most of the manpower south, the lands north of Talusdrad fell to darkness, now many creatures of the night march towards Talusdrad as the land itself begins to die. Many hope and pray that the gods will return to save all within Talusdrad while some take a more realistic outlook. Many are starting adventures within the land, to help delay the inevitable or prevent it all together..
