Logistics

Recruitment

Members of the 49th are chosen from the ranks of the regular army. Recruitment officers are known to watch for promising recruits as early as basic training, though most aren't officially selected until completing their professional soldier training. Height, weight, and gender have no bearing on selection, though potential recruits are expected to be at the peak of physical fitness due to the rigorous demands of being in the 49th.   A soldier typically is not even aware of being observed by the 49th until being called in for a meeting with a recruitment officer and given the option to join. However, his or her commanding officer is told quite early in the process. Any soldier has the ability to refuse to join the 49th, but within the army, turning it down is seen as a massive insult. Many can only dream of being good enough to catch a recruiter's attention. Following acceptance, the soldier is relocated for special training in Brunes.   Even among those chosen to join the 49th, not everyone can manage the extra training and stress. Those that fail during training are assigned auxiliary roles within the unit. Once accepted into the 49th, it is impossible to return to the regular army. Upon completing training, recruits are presented with the unit's iconic green jacket and the unit logo on the sleeve. At that point, the recruit is considered a full fledged member of the 49th.
