The Lonely Line
The Lonely Line is a geographical demarcation and moving-city road, also acting as a border between countries. It is most commonly associated with being the dividing line between civilization and the wilderness.
The lands north of the Lonely Line are mostly remote, wild, and unknown, while the land south of the Lonely Line is made up of developed countries.
The Lonely Line begins north of Lennar, a few day's journey east of the Thes'set Desert. It then runs in a straight line far to the east, over a significant portion of the planet.
The countries directly south of the Line are (in order of west to east): Lennar, Larislouz (the only country to cross the Lonely Line, with borders extending both north and south of it), Seviah, Rayleigh, Sevsisetti, and Dimmor.
As a moving-city road, the Lonely Line is an integral part of travel and transportation, linking countries and cultures. It is one of the most valued and most-traversed moving-city roads in the northwest.
The road control of the countries relating to the Lonely Line:
Lennar: Complete jurisdiction. Heavy, strict road-control and infamously high taxes.
Larislouz: Some jurisdiction, some free-road areas. Lax to no road-control, very low taxes. The only country to include the Lonely Line going through their country, rather than acting as a border.
Seviah: Minor jurisdiction, mainly free-road. In areas where they do hold jurisdiction, there is relaxed, moderate road control, and low taxes. Seviah only claimed control of selected parts of the Lonely Line in order to keep three islands within their country. These islands are situated inside the line, an unusual geographical and dimensional feature. Seviah only controls limited southern portions of the road. No northern parts of the Line fall under Sevian jurisdiction. Resultingly, only eastbound crafts are affected; all westbound crafts may use the Line as a free-road.
Rayleigh: Moderate road control, moderate taxes.
Sevsisetti
Dimmor: Situated in the crossing-road of the Lonely Line and the Dragon Channel, Dimmor once controlled the entire crossing area, but that territory was pushed back after a road-control war. Dimmor does not currently hold any jurisdiction of the Lonely Line, but is looking to change that.
