Aetherscars

The world of Tarana is riddled with what is called aetherscars. Most Aetherscars are permanent magical effects that roam the world like a weather based phenomenon. Though some are quite stationary There isn't a single area of the world that hasn't been touched by an aetherscar. Settlements are protected from the effects of aetherscars by naturally formed crystal spires in the center of every village, town, and city and these spires stand no more than three stories tall, and no less than one.
