Slavery is a common institution in the world of Crystal Spire. How it is viewed depends on the various cultural and national views in they're myriad combinations.
For example in the collection of City-States known as the Mystlands in Nwlin, Slavery is not only legal, but considered necessary for functional society. It seen as a mercy for low and middle class women, especially when the family falls on hard times. This is generally because it is commonly witnessed that the Mystland slave girls more often than not live happier and healthier lives as the property of the upper class, removed from the problems associated with things like farming in a land shrouded in a perpetual fog. While less common, men of low class can find themselves enslaved, especially in matters of debt where the man has no wife, sister, or daughter. The slave girls of the Mystlands are known as Muiri (singular and plural) while the rare slave boy carry's no unique title.
In the mountain settlements of Mativ, the enslavement of the men to the women is considered the natural order. The men are raised to view the women of Mativ as divinity; Goddesses in mortal form - thus deserving of absolute worship and obedience. The male slaves of Mativ are known as Uusarii (Uusarus is the singular), and make up all of the manual labor forces as majority of Mativ's military, always under the ever present watch and command their women. Due to Mativan xenophobia, outsiders can find themselves enslaved if found within the Crying Mountains, regardless of whether they are male or female, however women who are captured in such circumstances are much more likely to be given the option to join Mativan society, following the traditions, practices, and laws of Mativ, or remain a slave.
In the Underdark, Drow enslave and subjugate everyone they can, seeing themselves as the dominant race beneath the surface. Like in most other settings, Drow are a matriarchal society and their own men may find themselves subjugated or even sacrificed to their gods
The regions of Altair, Alsa, Orwyn, Lorsaw, Denmoore, Kyran, and Wlamyr all have slavery outlawed on the national level, with some kingdoms acting as outlyers. However a number of racial and ethnic groups are suspected to have an illicit slave trade going on.
