Kruphix, the Horizon Lord
Domain: God of Horizons
The center of the Triad1 is a mysterious figure, more so than the other gods. Kruphix is known as the God of Horizons but has dominion over all knowledge, including everything unseen or unknown. He knows everything that has ever happened and every thought conjured. His guidance allows his followers to reach the brink of the unknown - like a horizon.
Horizontide
Horizontide is celebrated on Duscar 32, the last day of the year. People of all lands celebrate the horizon of the new year by recollecting the past year and what they hope to accomplish in the future.
Physical Description
The Horizon Lord is more abstract than the other gods. Even when the pantheon walked among mortals, Kruphix never fully manifested. He is depicted as a star-filled silhouette of an indeterminate species or gender. This form has a cloak and hood as well as four arms sprouting from the torso. Where the head would sit, shine two bright stars, implying eyes.
Tales and Myths
Kruphix’s Warning
Before the pantheon splintered and the Dark Sovereigns were trapped in the Lower Planes, all gods quarreled. In this particular tale, Moradin had attacked Heliod in a destructive rage. After the destruction was attended to, the Dawnfather asked Kruphix to intervene. Kruphix agreed and traveled to Moradin’s forge. The Horizon Lord approached Moradin and linked their consciousnesses. Kruphix used his infinite power and wisdom to limit the forge god’s mind and memory. Word of this action spread among the rest of the pantheon and served as a warning to the other gods to not bother Kruphix with their pettiness.
The First Angels
Another myth states that it was Kruphix, not Sarenrae, who first created the angels from the very fabric of the Positive Plane. He ordered Nythos, the Divine Architect, to build alters to the gods across Taridad with the help of these new beings. Though no evidence has ever shown that Nythos truly existed, all pre-Crisis shrines and temples that are discovered are labeled as Nythias in his honor.
1. The Triad existed before mortals and the entire pantheon. This group of three beings (Kruphix, Bahamut, and Tiamat) created the other gods to help mold Taridad.
