Rivef Baruntacht
Forested River valleys, fed by volcanic hot springs, carving their way through the harshness of the Steppes like thin fingers of mercy within a frozen and brutal landscape. For all that idyllic description, such fair and bountiful conditions are not a place for the faint of hear to settle when surrounded on all sides by the Steppes and all the dangers those mountains hide, lurking around the edges. For such pleasant and bountiful conditions will inevitably attract attention from those beings and beasts that haunt the highlands. Conflict with greenskin, bestial, and rarely even Joten, are an unavoidable consequence of life in the region. As such, one should find no surprise in finding the folk whom call these lands home are tough, a hard and independent bunch, not afraid of frontier living. Most whom call these lands home can in one way or another, hold their own in a fight should it be called for, and this region has the highest amount of civilian readiness, in all likelihood. But in front of that knowledge and fact is of course a noticeably active military presence in the region, as one might expect. Regular patrols, in numbers, move about the roads, rails, and rivers. These lands and their governance, protection, organization, and general well being, are entrusted directly to Fiolag Sekker Rivef
The region is known for its timber production, as one may expect, and is the area where about fifty percent of all softwood lumber that is produced in Suranth is harvested from. Suranth has plenty of lumber, but really what they import is the more important sort, that being hardwood like oak, ash, maple, and others. But there is still plenty of value in softwood such as pine, spruce, cedar, and others. Besides this, a healthy mining operation is run in the region near Mount Dshaelishimh, pulling valuable obsidian from the volcanic rock formations. A small ruby deposit was recently found in some of the deeper tunnels as well, expected to yield a respectable volume of the precious gems. This of course, just increases the economic and strategic value of the region, thereby increasing the political sway and power Fiolag Rivef holds within the interactions amongst his fellow nobles in the province.

Geography
GEOGRPAHIC PLACES/REGIONS OF IMPORT:
Volcanic Springs: These various small lakes are unnaturally warm, proper glacial hot springs formed by underwater vents. These waters and the areas surrounding them, along with the rivers they feed, are teeming with life. This resource is of course highly contested in the region, and Suranthi citizens whom live in these areas are no stranger to raiding Greenskins, Marauding Bestials, or worse.
Mount Dshaelishimh: This volcano is almost a thing of local legend, in that its peak, the crater, has obviously never been summitted, the choking smoke and toxic fumes making such an ascent impossible in the opinion of any scholarly mind or experienced climber whom you would ask. Yet local myth and lore still claims that something, some long forgotten beast or being makes the maw of the mountain its home.
TOWNS/CITIES:
Riverwood (6904): The principle bastion and town of the region, here is the seat of Baron Rivef, and here is the fortress that holds the The Black Gate as it is called, the first point of contact, where Suranthi forces exert their influence from to control the river valley that would lead out from the Steppes and onto the lower lands of the rest of Suranth. This town, though not large, is one of wealth and activity, with a major river port, and the lumber processing in the region being centralized here. As one might expect, the inhabitants of this town work very hard to be self reliant and self sufficient, and as such hunters and fishermen are also valued and well taken care of members of society. The town is also known for being the seat of Baron Sekker Rivef, the man Green-skins in the region fearfully have named 'Death-Walker'. Quieter than most cities or large towns, this frontier estate is culturally what most likely expect from the tundra. Tough, hardy folk working together to survive and thrive in harsh conditions, with very little in the way of true luxury visible or easily acquirable.
Rairner (5836): This town is simply named, and named for its importance. It is the largest and busiest railyard in the region, and is so named to represent this, as the town's name simply translates to 'three rails', representing the intersecting of the busy rail-lines here. All major routes with multiple tracks, plenty of traffic passes through this rail-yard. Goods are loaded and unloaded, but what is even more common, and why this rail yard is such a busy place, is simply that one train will need to disconnect three cars, and exchange them with two from a different train a few tracks over. These exchanges can create logistical nightmares, yet the crack staff here as the Rairner Railyards handle dozens of these daily, and rarely if ever disrupt the standing schedule with delays. They are an impressive bunch, and well known and liked among conductors whom drive this route regularly.
Mabseonad (3629): This dwarven citadel and mining town is well fortified, part of a mountain. Here obsidian is mined, a valuable material used decoratively and for making of various tools meant for delicate work for a variety of trades. It is a valuable mining operation, and one that, given the local terrain, and the local volcano, is one of abundance. Recently, something far rarer, and of a greater financial value may have been discovered, as rumor is a small ruby deposit was stumbled upon in one of the larger and longer mining tunnels. These rumors about this small deposit of highly valuable manna gems is generating a lot excitement amongst the town's inhabitants.
