Shivering Wood

A cold and dense forest with but one road cutting through it, and even the rail system choosing to skirt the edges, this great pine wood gets its name for the near constant state of cold within, even beyond the tundra environment. Snow does not melt, ice never truly fades, yet life finds a way, seemingly. Great conifer trees of a wide variety grow here, to sizes impressive. The forest seems alive, seems intelligent. Those whom live in the area talk of the 'forest spirits' and generally seem to have an idea of how much they can take, and when to stop. It is not that farfetched. In truth those whom live in the region oft warn travelers to be very careful to stick to the roads. Wandering can invite danger and despair, temptation and horror. Whispers inquiring further may lend some hints, the idea that it is perhaps malignant spirits, or even Dark Fey, whom roam the deep corners of the Shivering Woods.
