Welcome to Tariek, a world of three strange and diverse continents. A world shattered by the Void, a world older than any of its inhabitants, even elves in their infinite wisdom, can fathom. A world where the Void pushs in from every side, an enternal enemy. A world where survival into old age is an accomplishment worth chronicling, but a world on the rise, a world filled with strange and wonderful technological discoveries in a race against each other, a race where experimentation and dangerous leaps of logic are applied regularly, in the name of science and the almighty coin.
But be wary, though technology and industrialism is a movement pushing forward, speak softly and wisely. For the wrong words in the wrong ears could send the Crusader cults to your door, and given they are sanctioned now, encouraged even, they will burn you as a heretic. The Ascended's Witch-Hunter orders are not that which we speak of. They are proper, organized professionals, so far as one can be. Hard, cruel even, most assuredly. But not given to rash action or panic, or they wouldn't still be alive. The Crusaders however, can make no such claim. No, we speak of the growing cult of personality of mankind, and indeed some of gnomish descent, where they worship a false idol. The long dead Empress Theodora the First, who marched and sailed north to take war to the Void and break their power here to free us from the Sundering. They use her name, insist on her shrines being within temple grounds, and are sanctioned by the throne and a divine mandate, forced through coercion or bought via bribery, from the Valarian Council. They may have no divine gifts to prove their case, but yet they can influence the highest Council of Law and Mandate on the continent. Despite that their so called 'Goddess' is silent they can bribe, blackmail, coerce and threaten with the best, or worst depending on your view, of them. Indeed she is silent, for she never Ascended. Not that these fools will listen to reason. And so amongst an industrial revolution, a time of revitalization and what should be a society coming together to build and be stronger, trust is a fragile thing, as is co-operation, along with intergrity. For the burning times have come again.
So go forth then, and I wish you well! If it is adventure you seek, you will find it , but again, tread carefully, for you may find more than you ever suspected. For if it isnt' the Crusaders and their....hammer meets nail tactics, it is the thumbscrews of a Witch-Hunter, the claws and teeth of some beast, the blade and shot of a scoundrel, or the terror of the Void itself. Danger is everywhere, and you never know what threats may come.
