Halflings
Halflings, short folk native to Khorvaire, live a distinct nomadic lifestyle on the Talenta Plains.
Talenta halflings are imposing despite their size. Their nomadic culture based around the hunt makes them tough and deadly. They cross the vast savannah on the backs of lions, manticores, and chimeras following the herds they rely on for food.
Tradition is vital to Talenta halflings. Civilization intrudes into tradition with its politics and its technological comforts. To outsiders, Talenta halflings appear fierce and barbaric. Talenta halflings make no excuses for the brutality of their lifestyles, but they accept others' ways of life. Most are friendly by nature and tend to form close friendships. While traditions vary from tribe to tribe one of the fundamental one is the Samaritan Law, halflings will help all those in need and honor and respects guests, be they enemies or friends. This tradition caused the rise of the two halfling Houses of the Twelve; Jorasco and Ghallanda.
The halflings live in tent cities. Any tribe can use the only permanent city they maintain, Gatherhold. During the Great War , Karrnath and Cyre each claimed parts of the Talenta Plains, and the flat, open terrain made it a perfect battleground. The halflings, by consensus stayed away from these conflicts.
When hunting they wear handcrafted ornate Spirit Masks. These sacred masks are worn only by proven warriors.
Talenta halflings use boomerangs when they hunt, as well as a scythelike weapon called the Talenta sharrash.
Adventuring halflings use these items in combat. The sharrash is especially useful for tripping foes.
The sphinxes that dwell in the foothills of the Endworld Mountains are considered sacred in the halfing culture, and many heroes have braved the sands of the Blade Desert to seek one out for spiritual guidance.
