The Old Gods

The Old Gods, also known as the Sovereign Host, were the original pantheon of Tartarus; as they fade into obscurity their priests become fewer and their temples fall into disrepair, still they live on in the minds of the people, if only as token service.   The Old Gods are often worshiped as a whole with prayers offered to particular gods based on the given situation:   1. Syberis the Solar - Allfather, God of the Sun, Light, and Heat. Leader of the Gods and the head of the pantheon.   2. The Scholar - God of the Weave. His domains are magic, balance, knowledge, learning, and law.   3. The Traveler - God of Time and Distance. His domains are the flow of time, the space between objects, travel, curiosity, and wanderlust.   4. The Artificer - God of the Forge. His domains are creation, the elements, shaping, and innovation.   5. The Mother - Goddess of Life. Her domains are life, healing, nature, hearth, and home.   6. The Reaper - God of Death. His domains are the afterlife, passage of souls, and finality.   7. The Slayer - God of War. His domains are war, strife, conflict, and protection.   8. The Shadow - God of Secrets. His domains are the spaces between the weave, balance, and equivalent exchange.   9. The Lady - Goddess of Luck. Her domains are happenstance, variables, and chance.   These nine deities appear under different names in almost every culture, their characteristics and importance in the pantheon may change due to the view of cultural lenses, but their basic tenets and domains remain the same. This is the biggest piece of evidence that priests use in argument that these gods actually exist, in a world where no one can claim to have met or interacted with one, and where divine powers can be granted by abstract concepts.
