Ezerinis

The city of Ezerinis, located in the northwestern corner of Dalla, has a population of approximately 14,000 residents. While people of many different species can be found within the city's walls, it is most common to encounter humans, elves, orcs, half-orcs, and dwarves. This is because the headquarters for the Karai paladin sect is found here, and the Goddess Karys is most commonly worshipped by these species.   The city has long lived under the looming shadow of the Karai headquarters. Karai paladins are known for their bravery and dedication, but also for their brutality and their tendency towards domination.   Worshippers of Karys view war as the ultimate opportunity for change. Paladins of Karys are often viewed as mercenaries, but the truth is more complex. The Teachings of Karys indicate that paladins ought to think carefully before choosing which side of the battle that they are on. The Karai are well-trained in matters of politics and diplomacy. Because the Karai are often sought out by both sides of a conflict, they have been given tools that allow them an advantage in spotting lies and treachery, and in ferreting out any secrets that politicians and the like may be trying to keep from them. They are not easily charmed or persuaded.   The Karai training centre in Ezerinis has endeavored to ensure that their paladins use these skills towards the most positive and ethical ends, but Karys herself does not appear to care which alignment her paladins tend toward. As a consequence, there are some Karai that use their Goddess-given skills to gain power and control for themselves at the expense of others. There are factions in the Karai which are considered dangerous, and one of those factions, Baisa-Karai, has their own headquarters just to the north of Ezerinis. There is a great deal of tension in Ezerinis between the Karai and the Baisa-Karai. The city often feels as if it is on the brink of its own war.
