Goliath
He took the vacant reigns and, 'n the horses' stead, pulled my cart for sev'ral miles at a brisk speed. If not for his crashin' footsteps I'd not have known my beasts-o'-burden had perished. I've heard tales o' Giants 'n' their kin, but most end in some form of tragedy, I'm glad to be able to put a story out in their favor. Those unlucky to live in the high mountains surly know what the thunderous sound beyond the haze brings. Goliaths move swiftly and strongly as large packs taking from anything that dares to be in their way, the people who live near them make a habit of locking their walls or hiding their valuables. The Goliath people believe deeply in the basic laws of nature: those who cannot stop them don't deserve the resources they hold and those who can't keep up do not belong.- Alin Freeborn, Gnomish Traveler on an Encounter with Goliaths
Descendants of Giants
Goliaths gain their hardened and massive physique from distant relations to Giants. While the specific relationship is unknown, their hardiness in frigid and highland climates suggest potentially ice, storm, or cloud, giants as the other members of their ancestry. Much like Giants in general, Goliaths have a natural competitiveness and strive for greatness, taking failure as a opportunity to grow mightier or a victory as a sign to take on greater obstacles. Should a Goliath slay a dragon, they may quickly seek out a greater wyrm and launch themselves into a foolhardy battle. In many cases this ambition leads to a Goliath's demise. One of the Pack
Competition and growth is the heart of Goliath culture. A leader who grows complacent in their position may soon find themselves usurped by a rival in the pack. Should you find yourself in the company of a Goliath, beware their ambition and use it to push yourself further beyond your abilities. Your Goliath companion will ensure any obstacle in your way can be smashed against your strength rather than circumvented.Basic Information
