Triton

We found her while passing through the northern ice en route to Kalom-kalom. She could barely speak Common, but we managed to communicate through maps and pictures. It seemed as if she were after the pirates trawling the sea but managed to get lost by quite a few nautical miles. We managed to point her in the right direction and she was off at once. Certainly ambitious to take them on alone but we were ill-equipped to aid. It was certainly an interesting chance meeting, I only hope we meet again next time so I might thank her for keeping the waters clear.
- Captain Lawry Montgomery, Half-Elf Merchant on meeting a Triton
Hidden down in the frigid trenches of the sea stand whole kingdoms of the isolated and noble Tritons. Guardians against the alien creatures that live in the depths their homes seem purposefully built along fault-lines between the Material Plane and the Elemental Plane of Water. In the wake of the Sundering however these rifts have fallen dormant and their people have grown restless, seeking answers to the uneasy peace they now experience or to adventure on the surface.

Haughty Nobility

Few outsiders ever get the chance to see the gilded coral halls of the Tritons' kingdom, described as decadently furnished and lavishly decorated with all the treasures that find themselves in the depths. A typical Triton is oftentimes quite proud of their heritage and culture and in many cases rightfully so. Records and stories they tell amongst themselves recall great battles against massive dangerous creatures before they even have the opportunity to harass the surface world. The validity of many of these stories cannot been verified but their battle prowess and culture does make their beliefs all the more convincing, if nothing else, they know how to spin a tale.

Isolated in the Depths

Tritons are oftentimes overwhelmed by the surface world, used to solidified alliances between their nations against a common foe rather than the complex social and diplomatic intricacies of the nations above. This often manifests itself from intense narcissism to rampant curiosity or a mixture of the two making them infuriating companions in many cases. Expect a number of obstacles in your way to come from a careless Triton running their mouth or not being aware of the dangers of the surface. All being said, their talent in battle and rigorous noble codes oftentimes make the Triton a worthy battle-mate and the life of the celebration.
