Warforged

"I sum'times see folk pityin' me fer ne'er sleepin'. Way I see it, there ain't much I'd like t' see when m' guard is down."
- Iken Weld, Warforged Sheriff
Remnants of a distant conflict, the Warforged stand now as feats of engineering and magic, fully sentient constructs who can act with all the complexities that life provides. To the rare few who know of their origins however, they are blights on the reputations of the skilled craftsmen who pieced them together so long ago. Constructs built from dark pacts in moments of desperation so many centuries ago.

Fearful Respect

Warforged were built for combat, they are mighty warriors through and through and that earns them a certain level of respect but this strength comes with its disadvantages. A Warforged, even with a delicate touch, is often seen like a bull in a city of fine china, a danger even with the best of intentions. Additionally, Warforged know well the horrors of war, placed into combat within mere months of their fabrication. Warforged bear the mental scars of well-seasoned soldiers and oftentimes suffer acute anxieties from their traumatic pasts even if they no longer have any memory of it.

Labors of Love

The mind of a Warforged is among the world's great mysteries, even following the Sundering, many Warforged remained active, seemingly not powered by the Weave at all. Curious craftsmen have on occasion reported a strange compulsion to wander to remote locations at times, even many miles away. This trance guides them to the remains of a Warforged who had long since perished and broken down and here they are given visions of intricate mechanisms and the blueprints to repair the being they have uncovered. Over the following weeks, the craftsman will work tirelessly to return the Warforged to working order, gathering materials from nearby sources and refining them personally until the Warforged is reborn anew, given a new shape by the craftsman who repaired them from the fleeting knowledge they were blessed by. The Warforged does not remember who they were before they were rebuilt but keeps portions of the past, such as skills, faces, and names.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Warforged are built from wood, stone, and metal among numerous other materials and resources, always the result of the person who rebuilt them. Despite being built from some form of common schematic, the craftsmen often claimed they were not aware of why each Warforged took on different traits, different heights, different stances. Many remarked that it was as if they were building their children, and many of the creators became attached to their crafts as each one was unique. In the end, Warforged have the same variety of shapes as Humans, for no known mechanical reasoning.
