Content Warning System

Tavomia offers players a chance to explore deep and often dark themes in a rich, immersive fantasy world. The world itself is designed to challenge both characters and players alike, often touching upon personal and emotional struggles within a larger narrative of conflict, adventure, and magic.   However, due to the mature themes present throughout the setting, we have implemented a Content Warning System to ensure transparency and respect for all players. These warnings aim to provide clear indicators of the kinds of content each article or adventure might contain, helping players and Storytellers to engage with the material thoughtfully.

General Themes and Content

Tavomia is a campaign world where both darkness and light exist in equal measure. While players will encounter heroism, sacrifice, and redemption, they will also face mature themes such as corruption, loss, and the perils of power. These themes are not meant to shock or alienate but rather serve as an important part of the narrative structure, offering players the opportunity to grow and triumph over adversity.   Common themes in the world of Tavomia include:
  • Corruption and Redemption: Tavomia is a world where moral choices matter, and characters are often faced with the temptations of power, the influence of dark forces, or the chance for personal redemption. Both the gods and mortals in this world wrestle with their desires and flaws.
  • Oppression and Rebellion: The forces of oppression, be it through slavery, tyranny, or the corruption of powerful deities, are present in Tavomia. Players may find themselves resisting these forces, standing up for the downtrodden, or navigating morally gray areas as they confront such challenges.
  • Horror and the Supernatural: The supernatural elements in Tavomia range from encounters with terrifying entities to the haunting influence of the Thin Reality. The campaign includes moments of horror, both psychological and physical, as players face nightmares come to life.
  • Violence and Sacrifice: Tavomia is a dangerous world, where life is often fragile, and the consequences of violence are felt deeply. Combat is brutal, but it is not glorified; it serves as a means to push the narrative forward and test the strength of the characters. The themes of sacrifice, whether personal or communal, are central to the campaign.

Who Is This Campaign For?

Tavomia is designed for a mature audience who enjoys complex, emotionally charged storytelling, where both character development and the narrative’s moral undertones play a significant role. It is not a world for those seeking only lighthearted adventures; instead, Tavomia offers an immersive experience where players can explore the darker sides of fantasy while striving to overcome them.   This campaign setting is ideal for groups that:
  • Appreciate nuanced moral dilemmas and personal character growth.
  • Are comfortable exploring mature themes in a thoughtful and respectful manner.
  • Enjoy a blend of classic fantasy elements with darker, more emotional storylines.
  • Seek a collaborative storytelling experience where player choices have meaningful consequences.

Using the Content Warning System

The Content Warning System is here to help you navigate the darker elements of Tavomia. While Storytellers are encouraged to use these themes as tools to enrich the narrative, it’s important that they ensure players are comfortable with the material. Icons appear at the top of any article or section where specific mature themes are present, allowing both players and Storytellers to engage with the content knowingly and thoughtfully.   Open communication and trust between players and Storytellers are vital. Tavomia is a world that challenges players but also offers them a space to explore complex issues in a controlled, creative environment.
