Days of the Departed

A celebration of all things macabre. All things dark and terrifying in the world are brought to light in celebratory fashion. Children and adults dressed in great long gowns with imagery of great beasts upon them, and large scale feasts held in honor of such things. During this, shrines to Lyvic and Haventhal are set within most major cities as well for honoring the fallen.

History

Crafted many many years ago within the First Kla'tani Empire in the east, this festival spread forth further during the time period when much of the days and shadows were growing long. Many dark creatures made it their time of the year to show their face, and as such, the lore of the festival spread to a celebratory and remembrance event it is known as today.

Execution

The tradition is celebrated in a semi-ostentatious fashion. Many children and adults watching them dress in small costumes fashioned from what is available, especially in peaceful areas or during good times. Masquerade balls, street dancing with music, and other such things occur alongside the large shrines set up in most of the cities. Lyvic and Haventhal are worshiped during this period as the rulers of death and misfortune.

Components and tools

Pumpkins are often carved and painted in the resemblance of Lyvic. Purple and grinning deeply with candles within. Other objects for Haventhal include old skulls, some fake some not, decorated with solemn candles.

Participants

Much of the world in the larger cities and tribes who have the gods associated with them participate in some fashion. Most people from the highest to lowest level all participate in some fashion. Some more muted than others, and some more celebratory than others, especially if there are recent passes.

Observance

The Days of the Parted take place within the fifth week of Lyvanel, the 10th month in the year when the shadows of the sun grow and the days grow short. Often during the night these festivals occur.
