Holy Coursers

Riders mounted on great black unicorns, these fearsome riders are known the world over as the main military force of the Assarian Empire. Powerful and strong in great numbers, these riders are equipped with all manner of weapons. Otherwise known as the Greyflanks within the Assarian Empire.

Composition

Manpower

Formations can vary from 100 to 2000 per unified grouping.

Equipment

Heavily plated armor, horses garbed in heavy plates and spikes, and red ornamental wings that flash bright colors

Weaponry

Much of the weaponry is coated in mithril. Long pikes affixed for mounted combat coupled with longbows or crossbows allow for change between ranged to melee charges

Vehicles

No formations are without their great black Unicorns

Structure

Ranging between 3-5 flanks per grouping, all headed by a higher ranking officer

Tactics

Flanking, charge tactics, and long range bombardments

Training

Years of combat training, often times front-lines work on the ground before any training begins for these horsemen

Much of the food and water is carried between staging points between townships

Upkeep

The upkeep is fairly expensive, given the price of the training for the soldiers as well as the unicorns themselves

Recruitment

Recruitment comes from ground troops who have shone interest and proven themselves interested

History

Founded upon the back of the horse, and unified upon it, the great beasts brought together much of the military might of the Empire to the elite fighting unit that has won the world's admiration
