The Convergence War

"The growth of magic, and teleportation, became possible because of such hardship and strife." - K. D.

With the once opposed nations realizing they can learn and empower their own magics, one would believe the world to have found a mutual peace after the annihilation and destruction of the previous war. But, mortals will be mortals. Such magic combinations give rulers and empires the means to control others and expand their territory. With magic potency reaching a higher level, the once rumbling dragons in the mountains reach a boiling point, and this war is interrupted on a global scale by a different foe.

The Conflict

Prelude

The forces in the aftermath of the war of the gods were few in number. Their magical means needed to meet the lack of forces present, and such combinations made certain magics quite potent.

Deployment

Larger empires and smaller factions moved themselves to the edges of their territory, all believing they could take the next easily with such heavily losses in the previous war.

Battlefield

Ranging across the globe once more, these wars on the slopes of draconic mountain got the attention of the lumbering giants.

Conditions

With peace being an option once again, many nations grew rapidly in this prospect, and sometimes too rapidly for them to control themselves.

The Engagement

Conflicts were heavy mage battles and long range magical implements as opposed to massive armies, as those were in short supply.

Outcome

The already weakened empires lost even more to their falling soldiers and weaponry, even if they gained territory in the process.

Aftermath

The advancements made here proved useful in the next coming war, but also spurred it along.

Historical Significance

Told as a war of foolishness in most history books, the Convergence War was a time that spurred forth magical councils to advise against the misuse of magic, such as Runevale in Aldaria.

Legacy

Remaining as a reminder that magic cannot be tamed and controlled, these wars show that any form of magic can be combined with the others, giving mages, and some heroes, the tools and insights to become their namesake in the coming years.

In Literature

Tales of the Great Magical Wars now existed with the many wars that had taken place in the centuries past, and the Convergence war only added to that stack of wizard tales.

Technological Advancement

Great and powerful magics were invented, and even stronger machines created to use and control these magics were fastened together. Destructive and violent, these creations are still the pinnacle of some forms of destruction.
