War of the Gods
"Fear not the coming darkness mortals. Rejoice as your once proud heritage will be reduced to dust and join the entropy of the universe, and you will be joined with the maiden of death eternally." - Avatar of Anthella during a battle around Thunder Peak
A severing of ties and connections began this war. In the brewing tensions for eons, the beings now known as the Dark Gods held ancient resentment for the rest of their godly pantheons. In a move led by Gorval, the four others broke from the laws of the land and rebelled against the pantheons, showing their true colors. The main battlefield erupted in Orovia, but scars and damage of this great war echo across all of Te'za in different parts of the world that can still be seen.
The Conflict
Prelude
In the last great war of the oceans, the beasts below made many of the planar connections across weaker and allowed more influence. It was not devils or demons that abused this, but the gods themselves that implanted avatars, minions, and their own will through persecution and destruction that used this weakened state.
Deployment
The forces and great wrathful vengeance of Severa, Gorval, Anthella, and Camroth spread like wildfire, bringing mortals under their wing and carving out a great and powerful military force that battled against the rest on both sides of the planes.
Battlefield
Ranging from the long open plains of Orovia, that now lie in ruins and desert after this war, to the high mountains of Taldoria and even the lowlands of Falvona, great powerful military forces and dark minions spread and sought to conquer the living world for themselves.
Conditions
Very few conditions were given in this war for surrender. Severa herself used though who gave themselves over to tinker, experiment, and design dark created, including the Sangui'tani.
The Engagement
The forces of light and darkenss did great battle, causing many avatars, lesser deities, and other creatures to fall during this time period, including thousands and thousands of mortal lives.
Outcome
The Dark Gods as they were called now after this battle were listed as reviled deities, and left to find followers in darker corners of the globe.
Aftermath
Many once proud and beautiful settlements and temples were torn down or destroyed and defaced. Any beings worshiping the Dark Gods have been listed as traitors and criminals ever since, including some empires of the world.
Historical Significance
The history of this war persists throughout generations and will continue to do so long into the future. With whole civilizations destroyed, areas ruined, and massive amounts of people displaced or changed, the world never returned to the way it was before.Legacy
Two very unique races were created during this period. The Sangui'tani, a craft of elves drawing upon the blood magic with Severa, making them similar to vampires, and very strong warriors were the first. The second being the Ca'tani, or the infernal heritage creatures crafted by the dark spirits themselves, or at least followers of them toying with the craft of flesh. These people bore their own freedom and broke the chains, becoming the notable, though uncommon, figures seen today.
In Literature
Many tomes regarding the practices of the Dark Gods and other deities were written during this time, as their new information and goals were very different from the past.
Technological Advancement
Powerful magics ranging from great weapons of devastation from miles away to powerful channeling avatars known as Soul Golems were used during this time.
