Dukes

The helpers of the King descendants of those praised as heroes and chosen of the fairies close relatives don't have soul bonds of their own and remain available for the dukes animal to bond with them. in a rare case where only distant relatives with soul bonds are available the Dukes animal will consume the original bond animal though this causes the bond between them to be damaged and twisted.

Qualifications

A hereditary position when a new monarchy is formed each of them are given a specific job and area which they rule over that works for them specifically and their descendants are trained to continue that path.

Requirements

Must have a soul searcher bond with the specific immortal animal given by the fairies.

Appointment

When the current Duke dies their animal bonds with the closest relative.

Duties

depends on the specific Duke most but not all rule over a specific area in addition to other duties.

Benefits

Besides the political aspects Barons have a bond with an animal who has lived through previous generations and is extremely tough. They also have authority over other soul bond animals and can exert pressure on them making them and their owner have a desire to obey them though they can resist this.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Usually but not always wears knight like armor.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The king can demand the death of any Duke legally as long as 1/3 of the other Dukes agree.

History

When a line of kings completely dies out and most of the dukes gather one can be unavailable are together a fairy representative will appear and redistribute roles and established a new King. The monarchy and the roles of the Dukes has been shuffled once before causing the lions rein.
