the tranced

The tranced is the term used to describe a group of magic uses found in Forst. The tranced usually uses their self discovered spells by exchanging it with others and it is considered taboo for them to use the spell themselves.

Transmission & Vectors

the transed is a condition which manifests when someone in Forst casts a spell that is perfectly synchronized with their souls language this almost never happens by accident but it is known to happen every once in awhile. The main way people find a perfectly synchronized spell is by taking a mix of mushrooms and natural plants which cause an out of body experience in which they can examine their own soul and through training practice and just luck see a new spell in it. Different mixtures can cause different amount of times spent out of their body and some argue that it also affects which part of their soul they see.

Causes

Forst magic is the process of using your soul and the energy within it to alter reality in some way usually this is accomplished by using a symbol that the soul interprets as something else. Soul symbols for one things have many similarities among them and can usually be taught from one person of the same species to another. When someone uses the exact language of their own soul the thing it represents becomes more powerful causing the spell itself to be more effective though their are consequences.

Symptoms

Every time the tranced use the spell that is synchronized with them their personality changes to more align with their views on that thing (for example multiple uses of their light spell makes them over kind and giving). The tranced have eyes that glow the brightness of their eyes shows how much they used the spell that is synchronized with them the color of the glow also sometimes has a coloration with the spell used though how this works is not understood.

Treatment

After the first time the spell is used the tranced should refrain from using the spell as much as possible.

Sequela

Anytime the tranced use the normal version of the spell they've discovered they will feel like they are doing it wrong and have a desire to cast their version of it the desires strength increases the more they use their version of their spell.

History

the tranced have one of the main way and to discover new spells originally every magic user discovered spells through trances but over time as more and more spells were established it became smaller groups in the magic community each of which closely guard the exact mixtures for their trances.

Cultural Reception

Modern day foresters are wary of the transed because of some of the extremists who actually used their own spells in the magic community mostly respects them but their is also a fair bit of wariness.
