The trap trees

While relatively rare the trees are often used as a place to lead humans by the other monsters causing them to be one of the more well known dangers.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Are a type of tree identical with those around it it's bottom can temporarily detach to form a mouth like gap that it uses to eat it's prey. The trap trees also consist of small humanoid creatures that appear to be made out of wood, which are connected to the tree through it's roots. As such they can only travel a set amount from the main tree body.

The trap trees are made from the planter variants.

The same as the tree it is similar to.

Ecology and Habitats

loves forest areas as it allows them to blend in and gain information.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It eats humans, but can also be sustained by sunlight like the trees around it. The amount of smaller bodies it has as well as how far they can move past the tree body is equivalent to how many humans it's eaten.

Social Structure

the humanoid part of the trees come in three varieties trappers musicians and planters. the most common ones are trappers who blend in with the surrounding trees and uses it's spike like arms to surprise and ambush wandering humans. after there are about three trappers the trap tree will start making planters the planters have more human like hands and spends their time digging and attaching themselves to the roots of a nearby tree once attached it's movement is based on that trees roots and will then go to the furthest tree it can get to this will continue until it reaches a certain distance from all trap trees at which point it will enter it's current tree and begin the processes of converting the tree into a trap tree. Musicians are the most rare type and only show up in some of the oldest trees they play "music" using the corpses of those that it eats this music sounds like tortured screams and is quite pleasing to the other monsters.

the humanoids have features vaguely resembling someone the trap tree has eaten.

Are spread out throughout the forest.

Average Intelligence

The trap trees do seem to have any more sentience then the average tree and most of what it does seems to be by instinct.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They can tell when someone damages nearby trees doing so will enrage the creature.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Trap trees are supported by a variety of the monster especially if there are musicians among them monsters that are exposed to their music for an extended period of time are compelled to feed their prey to the trap tree.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Until it tries to devour someone there is no way to tell the differences between it and normal trees.
